This document specifies the requirements and test conditions for water-based non-India inks intended for use in draughting instruments and intended for use on natural tracing paper conforming to ISO 9961, to provide for black line technical drawings.

This document specifies classification, dimensions, quality and test methods for black leads used for mechanical pencils for general writing, as specified in ISO 20318-1.

This document specifies classification, dimensions, quality and test methods for hand-held mechanical pencilss which hold and feed out a lead, and are used for general writing. It is also applicable to multi-function pens equipped with a mechanical pencil unit. However, those pencils attached to machinery instruments such as a plotter are excluded.

ISO 12757-1:2017 establishes minimum quality requirements for ball point pens (refillable or non-refillable) and refills for general use. Additional requirements for ball point pens for documentary use are given in ISO 12757‑2.

ISO 27668-1:2017 establishes minimum quality requirements for gel ink ball pens (refillable and non-refillable) and refills for general use. Additional requirements for gel ink ball pens for documentary use are given in ISO 27668‑2.

ISO 12756:2016 defines terms related to ball point pens and roller ball pens.

ISO 9177-1:2016 specifies classification, dimensions, performance requirements and testing for hand-held mechanical pencils used for technical drawings.

ISO 27668-2:2009 establishes minimum quality requirements for gel ink ball pens (refillable or non‑refillable) and refills for documentary use. Basic requirements for gel ink ball pens for general use are given in ISO 27668-1.

Specifies test methods for determining the following properties of film to be used as a medium for drawn and written information which it is possible to duplicate, revise and store: dimensional stability, permanent dimensional change, stability of form, tape stripping adhesion, susceptibility to fold marks, surface resistance, visual density, visual density after heat ageing, draughting and redraughting quality.

Specifies definitions as well as requirements for the following properties of film to be used as a medium for drawn and written information which it is possible to duplicate, revise and store: thickness, dimensional stability, permanent dimensional change, stability of form, adhesion, marking from metal objects, fold marks, surface resistance, visual density, draughting quality. In addition, specifies the contents of the label to be affixed on the outside of the package.

Specifies the requirements and test methods for line width, optical density, drying time, adhesion, erasability, resistance to water, fade resistance.

Specifies the main requirements and the accuracy of draughting scale rules, and their graduations in SI units. Two types of draughting scale rules are covered: those for hand use and those for manually operated draughting machines, both for professional use only. Scale rules for use in schools are not included.

Gives 41 definitions. Classification and designation are made according to motion mechanism, inclination of the drawing board, usable area, and scale rule chuck plate.

Specifies the requirements for appearance and construction, performance, inspection and marking. Annex A gives the requirements for the scale rule and inspection drawing board.

Specifies the minimum requirements, details qualities necessary for draughting and reproduction, and specifies appropriate test methods for the most commonly used grammages. Annex A describes measurement of transparency using the reflectance method, Annex B describes determination of tear growth resistance.
