Windows and pedestrian doors - Mechanical durability - Requirements and classification

This standard provides a means of classifying windows and doors according to their performance when subjected to repeated opening and closing. The performance levels take into account normal and intended use.

Foreword
This document (EN 12400:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 33 "Doors, windows,
shutters, building hardware and curtain walling", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by April 2003, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
April 2003
This European Standard is one of a series of standards for windows and pedestrian doors. The performance
classes relate to the test methods of EN 1191.
This European Standard includes an Annex A (informative) which gives some general guidance on the
appropriateness of performance classes in relation to categories of duty.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following
