This document specifies additional competence requirements for personnel involved in the audit and
certification process for environmental management systems (EMS) and complements the existing
requirements of ISO/IEC 17021-1.

The text of ISO/IEC 17021-2:2016 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/CASCO "Committee
on conformity assessment” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been
taken over as EN ISO/IEC 17021-2:2018 by Technical Committee CEN/CLC/JTC 1 “Criteria for
conformity assessment bodies” the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
