EN 3745-411:2018 - "Aerospace series - Fibres and cables, optical, aircraft use - Test methods - Part 411: Resistance to fluids" is a European Standard published by CEN that defines laboratory methods to determine the fluid resistance of fibre optic interconnection devices and cables for aircraft use. It is intended to be used together with EN 3745-100 (general test rules) and EN 3909 (test fluids and methods).

Examples: gasoline, kerosene, phosphate and silicone hydraulic fluids, mineral and synthetic oils, isopropanol/ethanol/MEK cleaning solvents, potassium acetate and ethylene glycol de-icers.
- Specimen preparation: Cable specimens (typically ≥1 m) are inspected, measured (EN 3745-203), wound on a mandrel, and conditioned per the standard before testing.
- Cleaning procedures: Initial and intermediate cleaning rules are specified to avoid introducing contaminants or synergistic effects when sequential fluids are applied.
- Final examination and pass/fail criteria: Visual inspection (EN 3745-201), optional cleaning to aid inspection, and mechanical abrasion testing (EN 3745-503) where specified. Minimum requirements include:
- Component markings remain legible
- Cable insulation shows no cracking or crazing
- Cable diameter does not swell by more than 10%
- Normative references: EN 3745-100, EN 3745-201, EN 3745-203, EN 3745-503, and EN 3909 are integral to correct application.
