This document specifies requirements for assessment of the mechanical strength of metal profiles incorporating a thermal barrier having mechanical performance depending on their intended use.
It also specifies the tests to determine the characteristic values of mechanical properties of the thermal barrier profile and to assess the effect of different conditionings of the thermal barrier on the mechanical performance of the connection.
This document does not apply to thermal barriers which do not give a contribution to the mechanical resistance of the profiles.
This document is applicable to thermal barrier profiles designed mainly for windows, doors, screens and curtain walls.
This document does not apply to thermal barriers made only of metal profiles connected with metal pins or screws.
This current edition of EN 14024 will supersede EN 14024:2004. Differences in test procedures between the two versions will not lead to significant differences in test results. Therefore, existing test results according to EN 14024:2004 are considered as equivalent to new test results according to the current edition of EN 14024.

This document gives the tolerance limits for specified dimensions of height, width and thickness, and for squareness of door leaves. It applies to door leaves which are supplied without, and independent of, any frames. It does not apply to the leaves of doorsets.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for the safety in use of power operated door, gate and barrier, intended for installation in areas in the reach of persons, and for which the main intended use is giving safe access for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises.
This European Standard also covers power operated vertically moving commercial doors such as rolling shutters and rolling grilles, used in retail premises which are mainly provided for goods protection.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to the power operation of industrial, commercial and garage doors, and gates when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable as identified in Clause 4.
All lifetime phases of the machinery including transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping are considered by this standard.
This European Standard does not apply to
- lock gates and dock gates;
- doors on lifts;
- doors on vehicles;
- armoured doors;
- doors mainly for the retention of animals, unless they are at the site perimeter ;
- theatre textile curtains;
- horizontally moving power operated doors mainly intended for pedestrian use;
- doors outside the reach of people (such as crane gantry fences);
- railway barriers;
- barriers intended solely for use by pedestrians;
- barriers used solely for vehicles on motorways.
Whenever the term "door" is used in this document, it shall be deemed to cover the full scope of types and variances of doors, gates and barriers in the scope of this Standard.
This European Standard does not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from power operated door, gate and barrier, intended for installation in areas in the reach of persons, and for which the main intended use is giving safe access for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises as their noise emission is not considered to be a relevant hazard.
NOTE Noise emission of power operated doors is not a significant hazard for the users of these products. It is a comfort aspect.
This European Standard is not applicable to machinery which are manufactured before the date of publication of the standard.

This document specifies requirements and classification systems for burglar resistant characteristics of pedestrian doorsets, windows, curtain walling, grilles and shutters. It is applicable to the following opening functions: Turning, tilting, folding, turn-tilting, top or bottom hung, sliding (horizontally and vertically), pivoted (horizontally and vertically), projecting and rolling as well as non-openable constructions. It also covers products that include items such as letter plates or ventilation grilles. It specifies requirements for the burglar resistance of a construction product (as defined in 3.1 of this document).
NOTE 1 The elements of curtain walling will be assigned to group 1 to 4 product depending on their design.
This document does not directly cover the resistance of locks and cylinders to attack with picking tools. Building hardware are components of the above mentioned products and cannot be classified as such according to this document.
This document does not apply to walls and roofs, as well as for doors, gates and barriers, intended for installation in areas in the reach of persons, and for which the main intended uses are giving safe access for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises, as covered by EN 13241:2003+A2:2016.
NOTE 2 It is important that construction products that can be reached or driven through by vehicles are protected by appropriate measures such as barriers, extensible ramps, etc.
The requirements to an electronic security system (e.g. access control system) to control electromechanical locks and strikes according to EN 14846:2008 are not in the scope of this document.
NOTE 3 Locks and striking plates according to EN 14846:2008 needs an access control system for authorized and secure access (comparable to a lock cylinder). The transmission of the signal between the lock and the access control system (e.g. wiring) needs also consideration. (The signal is transmitted in encrypted form or is not accessible during the manual attack attempt.) Upcoming revisions of this document might include such a reference.

This document applies to the whole range of shutters, awnings and blinds defined in EN 12216, described as solar protection devices in this document. Some of the characteristics (e.g. gtot) are not applicable when products are not parallel to the glazing (e.g. folding-arm awnings).
NOTE 1 Informative Annex D presents an approach for the determination of characteristics in case of projectable products.
Retro-reflecting products are outside the scope of this document for reflectance measurements.
NOTE 2 Retro-reflecting products refer to products for which the reflected radiation comes back to the light source in the same direction.
Products using a significant amount of fluorescent are outside the scope of this document.
NOTE 3 "Significant amount" refers to materials which are designed to be fluorescent or retroreflective and marketed as such. It does not refer to trace amounts of materials exhibiting fluorescence, e.g. for colour or identification purposes. Small amounts of materials such as titanium dioxide, which are not primarily included to achieve fluorescence, can be present.
