Pigments and extenders - Methods of dispersion and assessment of dispersibility in plastics - Part 5: Determination by filter pressure value test

This part of EN 13900 specifies a method of assessing the degree of dispersion of a colorant in a thermoplastic polymer.
The method is suitable for testing colorants in the form of colour concentrates in all polymer used for extrusion and melt-spinning processes.
The filter pressure value (FPV) determined according to this method is valid only for the equipment, conditions and test polymer being used. The use of test conditions differing from those specified may give different results. The method of preparing the colour concentrate is not specified in this standard. The results obtained for individual colorants are therefore comparable only when the same method of preparation for colour concentrates is used.
Annex A is normative and gives a model for the breaker plate.
Annex B is informative and provides a model test report containing a result of the round robin tests carried out in preparing this standard.

Dieser Teil von EN 13900 legt ein Verfahren zum Bestimmen des Grades der Dispergierung eines Farbmittels in
einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff fest.
Das Verfahren ist für die Prüfung von Farbmitteln in Form von Farbkonzentraten in allen Kunststoffen geeignet, die
für Extrusions-und Schmelz-Spinn-Verfahren eingesetzt werden.
Der mit diesem Verfahren bestimmte Druckfilterwert (FPV . Englisch für filter presure value) gilt nur für die
angewendeten Geräte, die angewendeten Bedingungen und das verwendete Dispergiermedium. Die Anwendung
anderer als der festgelegten Prüfbedingungen kann zu unterschiedlichen Ergebnissen führen. Die Herstellung des
Farbkonzentrates wird in dieser Europäischen Norm nicht beschrieben. Deshalb sind die Prüfergebnisse der
einzelnen Farbmittel nur dann vergleichbar, wenn dasselbe Verfahren zum Herstellen des Farbkonzentrates
verwendet wurde.
Anhang A ist normativ und zeigt den Aufbau der Sieblochplatte.
Anhang B ist informativ und enthält ein Beispiel für einen Prüfbericht auf Grundlage eines Ergebnisses der bei der
Erarbeitung dieser Europäischen Norm durchgeführten Ringversuche.

La présente partie de l'EN 13900 indique une méthode permettant d'évaluer le degré de dispersion d'un pigment dans un polymère thermoplastique.
Cette méthode est utilisée pour un pigment sous forme de concentré pigmentaire (à base de polymères) utilisé pour la coloration de polymères dans le domaine de l'extrusion et de la fabrication de fibres.
La valeur de pression du filtre (VPF) déterminée conformément à la présente méthode n'est valide que pour l'équipement, les conditions et le polymère d'essai utilisés. La mise en �uvre de conditions d'essai différentes de celles spécifiées peut conduire à des résultats différents. La méthode de préparation du concentré coloré n'est pas précisée dans la présente Norme européenne. Les résultats obtenus avec chacun des pigments ne sont donc comparables que si les concentrés colorés ont été préparés suivant la même méthode.
L'Annexe A est normative et donne un modèle de grille de contre-pression.
L'Annexe B est informative et fournit un modèle de rapport d'essai qui présente l'un des résultats obtenus lors des essais interlaboratoires réalisés au cours de l'élaboration de la présente Norme européenne.

This European Standard (EN 13900-5:2005) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 298 “Pigments
and extenders”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by November 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest
by November 2005.
This document includes a Bibliography.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following

1 Scope
