This European Standard specifies the minimum requirements, test methods, marking and information supplied by the manufacturer for the following ventilated and non-ventilated liquid-tight chemical protective suits.
Full body protective clothing with liquid-tight connections between different parts of the clothing (Type 3 liquid-tight clothing) and, with liquid-tight connections to component parts, gloves, boots, visors or respiratory protective equipment, which may be specified in other European Standards. Examples of such clothing are one-piece coveralls or two piece suits, with or without hood or visor, with or without boot-socks or over-boots, with gloves attached liquid tight to the suit.
It describes personal protective ensembles for use by emergency teams, e.g. first responders or fire brigades, in situations where the chemical hazards are known. Type 3- ET suits are generally used during rescue operations, salvage work, cleanup and decontamination procedures, especially to protect against liquid and solid chemicals. Chemical protective clothing conforming to this standard is not designed to provide protection against gases and vapours, nor substances with a high vapour pressure.
Suits described in this standard have to completely cover the body. It is designed with liquid tight connections to suit socks, or booties and liquid tight gloves. They are not designed as respiratory protection, but they need to provide adequate liquid protection (Jet test) where joints to respiratory devices are required. Minimum performance classes for mechanical properties are defined.
This standard specifies special performance requirements for both the materials of construction of the chemi-cal protective suit and for the suit as a whole, including component parts, such as respiratory protective de-vices, gloves, boots, seams, joins and assemblages. This standard does not establish minimum criteria for protection for non-chemical hazards, e.g. radiological, fire, heat, explosives etc. This type of equipment is not intended for total immersion in liquids. Chemical protective clothing conforming to this standard is not designed to provide protection against gases and vapours.
The basic performance criteria for the component parts: gloves, boots or respiratory protective equipment are given in other European Standards, (these Type 3-ET garments need to fulfil the requirements of the related product standards for gloves or boots etc, and the minimum requirements defined in this Standard). The chemical protection suits specified in this standard are designed to be used with respiratory protective devices.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Mindestanforderungen, Prüfverfahren, Kennzeichnungen und Informationen des Herstellers für die folgenden belüfteten und nicht belüfteten flüssigkeitsdichten Chemikalienschutzanzüge fest.
Persönliche Schutzkleidung mit flüssigkeitsdichten Verbindungen zwischen einzelnen Teilen des Kleidungsstückes (Typ 3 flüssigkeitsdichte Schutzkleidung) und mit flüssigkeitsdichten Verbindungen zu trennbaren Teilen, Handschuhen, Stiefeln, Sichtscheibe oder Atemschutzausrüstung, die in anderen Europäischen Normen festgelegt sein können. Beispiele dieser Kleidung sind einteilige Overalls oder zweiteilige Schutzanzüge, mit oder ohne Haube oder Sichtscheibe, mit oder ohne Stiefelüberzieher oder Überstiefel, mit Handschuhen, die flüssigkeitsdicht am Schutzanzug befestigt sind.
Sie beschreibt persönliche Schutzanzüge für die Anwendung durch Notfallteams, z. B. Ersthelfer oder Feuerwehr in Situationen, wo chemische Gefährdungen zu erwarten sind. Schutzanzüge für Notfallteams vom Typ 3-ET werden im Allgemeinen bei Rettungsarbeiten, Bergungsarbeiten, Aufräumarbeiten sowie Verfahren der Schadstoffbeseitigung verwendet, um insbesondere vor flüssigen und festen Chemikalien zu schützen. Chemikalienschutzkleidung entsprechend dieser Norm ist weder dazu ausgeführt, Schutz vor Gasen und Dämpfen zu bieten, noch vor Substanzen mit hohem Dampfdruck.
In dieser Norm beschriebene Schutzanzüge müssen den Körper vollständig bedecken. Sie sind mit flüssigkeitsdichten Verbindungen zwischen Anzug und Socken oder Füßlingen sowie flüssigkeitsdichten Handschuhen ausgeführt. Sie sind nicht als Atemschutz ausgeführt, aber sie müssen angemessenen Schutz gegen das Durchdringen von Flüssigkeiten bieten (Jet-Test), wo Verbindungen zu Atemschutzvorrichtungen erforderlich sind. Die Mindestleistungsklassen der mechanischen Eigenschaften sind festgelegt.
Diese Norm legt besondere Leistungsanforderungen sowohl an die Fertigungsmaterialien von Chemikalienschutzanzügen als auch an die Anzüge als Ganzes fest, einschließlich an trennbare Teile wie Atemschutzvorrichtungen, Handschuhe, Stiefel, Nähte, Verbindungen und Verbünde. Diese Norm gibt keine Mindestkriterien zum Schutz vor nicht-chemischen Gefahren an, wie z. B. Radioaktivität, Feuer, Hitze, Explosionen. Diese Art der Ausrüstung ist nicht für das vollständige Eintauchen in Flüssigkeiten vorgesehen. Chemikalienschutzkleidung entsprechend dieser Norm bietet keinen Schutz vor Gasen und Dämpfen
Die grundlegenden Leistungskriterien für trennbare Teile wie Handschuhe, Stiefel oder Atemschutzausrüstung sind in anderen Europäischen Normen angegeben (die Kleidungsstücke vom Typ 3-ET müssen die Anforderung der damit zusammenhängenden Produktnormen für Handschuhe oder Stiefel usw. erfüllen sowie die in dieser Norm festgelegten Mindestanforderungen). Die in dieser Norm beschriebenen Chemikalienschutzanzüge sind dazu ausgeführt, mit Atemschutzvorrichtungen verwendet zu werden.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences minimales, les méthodes d’essai, le marquage et les informations fournies par le fabricant pour les combinaisons de protection contre les produits chimiques, étanches aux liquides, ventilées et non ventilées ci-après.
Vêtements protégeant tout le corps avec liaisons étanches aux liquides entre les différentes parties du vêtement (type 3 : vêtements étanches aux liquides) et avec liaisons étanches aux liquides avec les éléments constitutifs, gants, bottes, visières ou appareils de protection respiratoire, susceptibles d’être spécifiés dans d’autres Normes européennes, par exemple les combinaisons une pièce ou deux pièces, avec ou sans cagoule ou visière, avec ou sans bottes intégrées ou surbottes, avec gants reliés de manière étanche aux liquides à la combinaison.
Elle décrit des tenues de protection individuelle destinées à être utilisées par des équipes d’urgence (ET), par exemple les secouristes ou les pompiers, dans des situations où les risques chimiques sont connus. Les combinaisons de type 3-ET sont généralement utilisées au cours d’opérations de secours et de sauvetage, de procédures de nettoyage et de décontamination, notamment pour la protection contre les produits chimiques liquides et solides. Les vêtements de protection contre les produits chimiques conformes à la présente norme ne sont pas conçus pour fournir une protection contre les gaz et les vapeurs, ni contre les substances à pression de vapeur élevée.
Les combinaisons décrites dans la présente norme doivent couvrir le corps dans son intégralité. Elles sont conçues avec des liaisons étanches aux liquides entre la combinaison et les chaussettes ou chaussons et les gants étanches aux liquides. Elles ne sont pas conçues en tant que protection respiratoire mais elles doivent fournir une protection suffisante contre les liquides (essai au jet) lorsque des jonctions avec des appareils respiratoires sont requises. Des classes de performance minimale concernant les propriétés mécaniques sont définies.
La présente norme spécifie des exigences de performance particulières à la fois pour les matériaux de fabrication de la combinaison de protection contre les produits chimiques et pour la combinaison dans son ensemble, y compris les éléments constitutifs tels que les appareils de protection respiratoire, les gants, les bottes, les coutures, les jonctions et les assemblages. La présente norme ne fixe pas de critères de protection minimaux en matière de risques non chimiques, par exemple, risques radiologiques, risques liés au feu, à la chaleur, aux explosifs, etc. Ce type d’équipement n’est pas destiné à l’immersion totale dans des liquides. Les vêtements de protection contre les produits chimiques conformes à la présente norme ne sont pas conçus pour fournir une protection contre les gaz et les vapeurs.
Les critères de performance de base pour les éléments constitutifs tels que les gants, les bottes ou les appareils de protection respiratoire sont donnés dans d’autres Normes européennes (ces vêtements de type 3-ET doivent satisfaire aux exigences des normes de produits connexes relatives aux gants ou bottes, etc., ainsi qu’aux exigences minimales définies dans la présente norme). Les combinaisons de protection contre les produits chimiques spécifiées dans cette norme sont conçues pour être utilisées avec des appareils de protection respiratoire.
