Lesne plošče - Vzorčenje, razžagovanje in kontrola - 2. del: Začetno preskušanje tipa in kontrola proizvodnje v obratu

Overview
EN 326-2:2010+A1:2014 (CEN) defines methods for initial type testing (ITT) and factory production control (FPC) of wood‑based panels, ensuring products meet EN 13986 and other product specifications. The standard covers internal manufacturer testing and optional external control by an inspection body. It applies primarily to panels used in construction but can be applied by manufacturers to non‑construction panels by choice. It is not intended for consignment conformity assessment (EN 326-3 applies in that case).
Key Topics
- Sampling and cutting: procedures for selecting panels and preparing small test pieces for in‑factory tests (references EN 326-1 for sampling/cutting methods).
- Initial type testing (ITT): procedures for establishing product type performance before market introduction, using either variables (measurable continuous properties) or attributes (pass/fail characteristics).
- Factory production control (FPC): ongoing monitoring of production, including batch assessment and evaluation of production over longer periods.
- Statistical evaluation: test statistics are based on normal distribution; methods include criteria for batch acceptance, AQL concepts and control-chart approaches (ISO 8258 referenced).
- External control and surveillance: methods for initial inspection of a factory, external ITT, and surveillance of FPC by an inspection body.
- Specific checks and examples: dimensional tolerances (thickness, squareness, edge straightness), mechanical properties (e.g., bending strength), bonding quality (plywood), swelling and internal bond - illustrated in informative annexes.
- Correlation and differences: procedures to assess linear correlations and detect significant differences between factory and external test results.
Applications
Who uses EN 326-2 and why:
- Manufacturers: to set up and document internal ITT and FPC systems, demonstrate conformity with EN 13986, and control batch and long‑term production quality.
- Quality managers / production engineers: to establish sampling plans, choose variable vs attribute testing, and interpret statistical results for process control.
- Inspection bodies / notified bodies: for external factory inspections, surveillance testing, and verification of manufacturer FPC records.
- Specifiers / purchasers: to understand how manufacturer quality claims are validated and to require compliance evidence in procurement.
Practical benefits:
- Consistent sampling and testing practices across Europe
- Clear routes to demonstrate conformity for CE marking where applicable
- Better in‑factory quality control, reduced rework and non‑conforming shipments

The European Standard EN 326-2:2010+A1:2014 provides guidelines for testing and inspecting wood-based panels to ensure they meet product specifications. It covers internal testing and control as well as external control. It can also apply to wood-based panels used for non-construction purposes. However, it does not apply to assessing compliance of panels in shipments, for which EN 326-3 is used. The standard includes methods for assessing batches and long-term production control internally, and initial factory inspection and testing externally. The evaluation of factory production control is based on normal distribution using small test pieces.
