This European Standard specifies methods for internal initial type testing (ITT) and internal factory production control (FPC) as well as external control of wood-based panels for their compliance with EN 13986 and other relevant product specifications. However, it may also apply, at the option of the manufacturer, to wood-based panels applied for non-construction purposes.
This European Standard is not applicable for the assessment of compliance with specifications of panels comprised in consignments. In such cases, EN 326-3 applies.
For internal factory production control, if required, methods for the assessment of conformity of batches and of production over longer periods are given.
For external control, if required, methods for the initial inspection of a factory and initial type testing of a product, and for the surveillance of the factory production control, are given.
In the factory production control small test pieces are used. The statistics of evaluation is based on normal distribution.

This European Standard specifies:
- concentrated load test and assessment methods for floor and roof decking;
- soft body impact assessment methods and classification system for floors, roofs and walls.
This European Standard does not include racking testing or uniformly distributed loads as these are covered by testing according to EN 594 or calculation according to EN 1995-1-1 respectively.
This European Standard specifies the procedure for determining the performance characteristics through type testing, of load-bearing wood-based panels fitted on:
a) structural joists for decking:
1) in flooring applications in load categories A, B, C and D;
2) in roof applications in load categories H and I;
for which type testing involves:
i) punching shear under concentrated loading;
ii) vertical soft body impact;
b) studs for walling application for which type testing involves:
1) pendular soft body impact.
Annex A (normative) lists modifications to EN 1195, particularly the contact area of the loading head that may be used for concentrated loading.
Annex B (informative) provides proposals for national performance requirements.
Annex C (informative) provides examples for a decking application in a floor and a roof.

This European Technical Specification defines terms, establishes a classification and specifies test methods for flat, factory made, non-structural, faced and unfaced sandwich boards for use in furniture manufacturing (SWB-F) for dry (service class 1) and humid conditions (service class 2). This European Technical Specification does not specify requirements.
Guidance is provided for the selection of board properties which are relevant for specific board applications.
This European Technical Specification is not applicable to products which are already covered by existing standards.

This European Standard specifies a method of determining in a constant climate both a duration of load factor and a creep factor for wood-based panels stressed in flatwise bending with and without a shear component. Details of an alternative but provisional method employing medium sized test pieces are given in Annex A; this method can also be used for test pieces loaded under varying climates.
NOTE The duration of load factor is necessary to modify the characteristic strength values obtained in short-term structural tests in order to derive long-term values. The creep factor obtained in the test is used to predict a long-term deflection from the initial elastic deflection.

This European Standard provides information on the characteristic values for use in designing structures incorporating wood-based panels. The characteristic values given in this standard are to be used in accordance with EN 1995-1-1.
When utilizing the classification system for derivation of plywood characteristic values, this part of this standard can only be applied with reference to EN 636.
This part of this standard includes the characteristic values of the mechanical properties for plywood complying with EN 636 in bending, tension, compression, panel shear and planar shear. EN 636 classifies bending properties into two sets of classes, one for stiffness and another for strength. Stiffness and strength in tension and compression are related to the same properties in bending.
For shear properties, fixed values determined by correlation to density are provided.
Where optimised values are needed, the characteristic values are determined directly by testing in accordance with EN 789 and EN 1058 or by combination of testing according to the latter two standards and calculation according to prEN 14272.
This part of this standard applies to panels complying with the three following conditions:
- 5 layers or more and 6 mm overall thickness and more;
- the ratio of the cumulative thickness of veneers in alternate directions does not exceed 2,5;
- wood species with a mean density greater than 350 kg/m3 and not exceeding 750 kg/m3.

On the basis of test results from wood-based panel products for structural purposes, this European Standard specifies a method for the determination of:
- characteristic 5-percentile values of mechanical properties under the assumption of a log-normal distribution of the test data according to EN 14358; and
- characteristic mean values (50-percentile values) of physical properties under the assumption of a normal distribution of the test data.
Test data should be determined from tests using the test methods outlined in EN 789.
- Standard17 pagesEnglish languagesale 10% offe-Library read for1 day
This Technical Specification specifies small-scale test methods for estimating the following mechanical properties of wood-based panels:
- indicative planar shear strength (sometimes referred to as block shear);
- indicative panel shear strength;
- indicative strength and modulus of elasticity in tension in the plane of the panel;
- indicative strength in compression in the plane of the panel.
Reference should be made to EN 310 for bending properties. For plywood, EN 314 1 may also be used as an indicator of planar shear strength.
These test methods are intended for indicative purposes only and should not be used as a means of determining structural design values. They may not be suitable for all panel types. They may be used as a means of supporting quality control procedures for structural panels, if correlations with EN 789 test results can be established (CEN Technical Report in preparation).

This European Standard specifies methods for the verification of compliance of one or more properties of an isolated lot of wood-based panels with the requirements of the relevant EN specification standards. Different sample sizes are given depending on wether or not the production is controlled according to EN 326-2.
For panels, the production of which is controlled in accordance to EN 326-2 this European Standard can be used in case of a dispute. It is not applicable for the factory production control. For these purposes, EN 326-2 applies.
In this standard, verification of compliance is based on the testing of small test pieces.
