This document specifies a method for the determination of the water content of water-borne coating materials and their raw materials by using a gas chromatograph. The preferred working range of this test method is from a water mass fraction of 15 % to a water mass fraction of 90 % but the method can be applied outside of this range.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zum Bestimmen des Wassergehaltes von wasserhaltigen Beschichtungs¬stoffen und deren Rohstoffen mittels eines Gaschromatographen fest. Der bevorzugte Arbeitsbereich dieses Prüfverfahrens liegt bei einem Wassergehalt von 15 % bis 90 % (Massenanteil), das Verfahren kann jedoch auch außerhalb dieses Bereiches angewendet werden.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode pour déterminer la teneur en eau des produits de peinture aqueux et de leurs matières premières au moyen d'un chromatographe en phase gazeuse. La plage de mesure recommandée pour la présente méthode s'étend d'une fraction massique en eau de 15 % à une fraction massique en eau de 90 %, mais la méthode peut être appliquée en dehors de cette plage.

The text of ISO 23168:2019 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 "Paints and
varnishes” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as
which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2021, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by June 2021.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
