Swimming pool equipment - Part 5: Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for lane lines and dividing line

This European Standard specifies safety requirements for lane lines and dividing line in addition to the general safety requirements of EN 13451-1:2011 and should be read in conjunction within it.
The requirements of this specific standard take priority over those in EN 13451-1:2011.
This part of EN 13451 is applicable to manufactured lane lines for use in competition and training and dividing line for use in classified swimming pools as specified in EN 15288-1 and EN 15288-2.

Die Anforderungen dieser besonderen Norm haben Vorrang gegenüber EN 13451 1:2011.
Dieser Teil von EN 13451 gilt für werkmäßig hergestellte Schwimmbahnleinen zum Gebrauch bei Wett¬kämpfen und beim Training sowie für Trennseile zum Gebrauch in klassifizierten Schwimmbädern nach EN 15288 1 und EN 15288 2.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie des exigences de sécurité pour les lignes de nage et les lignes d’eau de séparation des espaces, et vient compléter les exigences générales de sécurité de l'EN 13451 1:2011. Il convient de lire la présente norme conjointement avec l'EN 13451 1:2011.
Les exigences de la présente norme spécifique prévalent sur celles de l'EN 13451 1:2011.
La présente partie de l’EN 13451 s'applique aux lignes de nage préfabriquées, utilisées pour la compétition et l'entraînement, et aux lignes d’eau de séparation des espaces utilisées dans des piscines classées telles que spécifiées dans les EN 15288-1 et EN 15288-2.

Overview

EN 13451-5:2014 is the CEN standard that sets additional specific safety requirements and test methods for lane lines and dividing line used in swimming pools. It complements and takes priority over the general requirements in EN 13451-1:2011 and applies to manufactured lane lines for competition and training and dividing line assemblies for classified pools (see EN 15288-1 and EN 15288-2).

This part covers design, structural integrity, tensioning and safety links, buoyancy and anti‑entrapment provisions, plus test methods and marking requirements.

• Dimensions & strength: Dividing ropes must be ≥20 mm thick (excluding floats), breaking force ≥20 000 N, elongation ≤2.5‰.
• Floats and markers: Floats or ball markers must have diameter ≥80 mm; wire ropes require coating thickness ≥1 mm.
• Rope holders & tensioning: Rope holders must resist 20 000 N parallel load without permanent deformation; turnbuckle openings ≤8 mm.
