Preskuse in njihova področja uporabe mora določiti proizvajalec premaza v ločenem načrtu preskusov v skladu z zahtevami specifikacije premazov.

Overview

EN 17002:2018 is a European standard developed by CEN that defines the minimum requirements for the Thermal Spray Procedure Specification (TSPS) used in the production of thermally sprayed coatings on components. The TSPS serves as a critical quality assurance document ensuring consistency, traceability, and compliance with coating specifications during the thermal spraying process. This standard focuses on establishing clear guidelines for documenting and controlling the procedures involved in coating applications, which are essential for maintaining high-performance coatings in various industrial sectors.

Key Topics

  • Scope and Purpose
The standard outlines the necessary content and documentation requirements for a TSPS in order to meet the coating specifications and guarantee quality assurance throughout production.

  • Minimum Information Requirements
The standard mandates inclusion of detailed information in the TSPS, such as:

    • Manufacturer and component details
    • Coating and substrate materials
    • Thermal spraying process classification (in line with EN ISO 14917)
    • Spray consumables and equipment identification
    • Surface preparation and cleanliness requirements
    • Process parameters including pre-treatment, spraying, post-treatment, and cooling methods
    • Masking and fixture details
    • Coating thickness and permissible tolerances
    • Testing scope and methods associated with the sprayed coating
  • Process Parameters and Validation
Essential spray parameters must be defined to ensure repeatability and effectiveness of coatings. The TSPS must be qualified through component-related procedure qualification (TSPQ) per EN 15648 or validated by adhering to included quality assurance references such as EN ISO 14922 series.

  • Traceability and Documentation
A TSPS must be fully traceable and component-specific, enabling verification of compliance with technical and quality requirements.

  • Scope of Validity
Defines how the TSPS applicability is limited by component geometry, material, coating, and production processes. It can be transferred to new components if conditions like material properties and component state remain consistent without requiring re-qualification.

  • Supporting Examples
Annex A provides an informative example form for creating a TSPS, covering surface preparation, spray parameters, post-treatment, and special process-dependent conditions tailored for various thermal spraying techniques like electric arc spraying, wire flame spraying, powder flame spraying, and HVOF/HVOLF spraying.

Applications

  • Industrial Coating Production
EN 17002:2018 is essential for manufacturers applying thermally sprayed coatings in industries like aerospace, automotive, power generation, and construction.

  • Quality Assurance Systems
Integrating TSPS documentation helps suppliers and manufacturers comply with quality management systems such as EN ISO 9001 and quality requirements standards (EN ISO 14922-1 to EN ISO 14922-4).

  • Component-Specific Coating Control
Ensures that coatings are consistently applied in accordance with design requirements and functional specifications, minimizing defects and enhancing component lifespan.

  • Production and Repair Environments
The standard is applicable for new production and repair work both in factories and on-site construction, supporting controlled and reproducible thermal spray procedures.

  • Traceability and Compliance
Helps organizations fulfill audit and certification requirements by maintaining detailed, process-specific documentation within their coating workflows.
