Paints and varnishes - Determination of the percentage volume of non-volatile matter - Part 1: Method using a coated test panel to determine non-volatile matter and to determine dry film density by the Archimedes principle (ISO 3233-1:2013)

ISO 3233-1:2013 describes a procedure for determining the non-volatile matter by volume, NVV, of coating materials and related products by measuring the density of a dried coating for any specified temperature range and period of drying or curing. This method determines the non-volatile matter immediately after application.
Using the non-volatile matter by volume results obtained in accordance with this part of ISO 3233, it is possible to calculate the spreading rate of coating materials.
The method specified in this part of ISO 3233 is the preferred method for air-drying materials. Its use for other materials still has to be tested.
ISO 3233-1:2013 is not applicable to coating materials in which the critical pigment volume concentration is exceeded.

Dieser Teil von ISO 3233 legt ein Verfahren zum Ermitteln des Volumens der nichtflüchtigen Anteile (VnfA) von Beschichtungsstoffen und ähnlichen Produkten durch Messung der Trockenfilmdichte (Dichte der trockenen Beschichtung) für einen beliebigen festgelegten Temperaturbereich und eine beliebige festgelegte Trocknungs- oder Härtungsdauer fest.
Mit Hilfe des nach diesem Teil von ISO 3233 bestimmten Volumens nichtflüchtiger Anteile ist es möglich, die Ergiebigkeit eines Beschichtungsstoffes zu berechnen.
Das in diesem Teil von ISO 3233 festgelegte Verfahren wird bevorzugt für lufttrocknende Stoffe eingesetzt. Seine Verwendung für andere Materialien muss noch untersucht werden.
Dieser Teil von ISO 3233 ist nicht anwendbar für Beschichtungsstoffe, die die kritische Pigmentvolumen-konzentration überschreiten.

L'ISO 3233-1:2013 décrit un mode opératoire permettant de déterminer la teneur en volume de matière non volatile, NVV, dans les produits de peinture et produits assimilés, consistant à mesurer la masse volumique d'un revêtement séché à toute gamme de température et période de séchage ou de réticulation spécifiées. La présente méthode caractérise la matière non volatile immédiatement après application.
La teneur en volume de matière non volatile obtenue conformément à l'ISO 3233-1:2013 permet de calculer le rendement superficiel spécifique des produits de peintures.
La méthode spécifiée dans l'ISO 3233-1:2013 est la méthode recommandée pour les revêtements séchant à l'air. Son utilisation pour d'autres produits doit encore faire l'objet d'essais.
L'ISO 3233-1:2013 n'est pas applicable aux produits de peinture pour lesquels la concentration pigmentaire volumique critique est dépassée.

Ta del standarda ISO 3233 opisuje postopek za določanje nevnetljive snovi glede na prostornino, NVV, premaznih sredstev in povezanih izdelkov z merjenjem gostote posušenega premaza za kateri koli določeni temperaturni obseg in obdobje sušenja ali strjevanja. Ta metoda določa nevnetljivo snov takoj po uporabi. Z rezultati nevnetljive snovi glede na prostornino, ki so pridobljeni v skladu s tem delom standarda ISO 3233, je mogoče izračunati hitrost nanašanja premaznih materialov. Metoda, ki je navedena v tem delu standarda ISO 3233, je prednostna metoda za vsa sredstva, ki se sušijo na zraku. Njeno uporabo za druga sredstva je treba še preskusiti. Ta del standarda ISO 3233 se ne uporablja za premazna sredstva, v katerih je presežena kritična koncentracija prostornine pigmenta.

varnishes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and varnishes” the secretariat of
which is held by DIN.
