This standard specifies requirements for classification of wire electrodes and weld deposits in the as-welded condition for gas shielded metal arc welding of non-alloy and fine grain steels with a minimum yield strength of up to 500 N/mm2. One wire electrode may be tested and classified with different gases. Theclassification of a weld deposit is based on tests of the all-weld metal.

Eine Drahtelektrode kann mit verschiedenen Gasen geprüft und eingeteilt werden. Die Einteilung des Schweißgutes basiert auf Prüfungen des reinen Schweißgutes.

La présente norme spécifie les caractéristiques de classification des fils électrodes et des dépôts à l'état brut de soudage pour le soudage à l'arc sous gaz des aciers non alliés et à grain fin ayant une limite d'élasticité minimum inférieure ou égale à 500 N/mm2. Un même fil électrode peut être essayé et classifié avec différents gaz. La classification d'un dépôt est basée sur les essais du métal fondu.
