Geosynthetic barriers - Test method for determining the resistance to roots

This Technical Specification describes a laboratory procedure for the rapid testing of the resistance of polymeric, bituminous or clay geosynthetic barriers to root penetration. It is suitable for testing of welded seams or other areas of potential weakness.
A longer test that may be more suitable for testing the long-term resistance of geosynthetic barriers is described in EN 13948.

Geosynthetische Dichtungsbahnen - Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung des Widerstandes gegen Wurzeln

Diese Technische Spezifikation beschreibt ein Laborverfahren zur schnellen Prüfung des Widerstandes geosynthetischer Kunststoffdichtungsbahnen, geosynthetischer Bitumendichtungsbahnen oder geosynthetischer Tondichtungsbahnen gegen Wurzelpenetration. Es eignet sich für die Prüfung von Schweißnähten oder anderen Bereichen mit möglichen Schwachstellen.
Eine längere Prüfung, welche für die Überprüfung der Langzeitbeständigkeit von geosynthetischen Dichtungsbahnen besser geeignet wäre, ist in EN 13948 beschrieben.

Géomembranes et géosynthétiques bentonitiques - Méthode d'essai pour la détermination de la résistance à la pénétration des racines

La présente spécification technique décrit un mode opératoire de laboratoire permettant d'évaluer rapidement la résistance des géomembranes bitumineuses ou polymériques et des géosynthétiques bentonitiques à la pénétration des racines. Elle convient pour l'essai des joints soudés ou autres zones potentiellement vulnérables.
Un essai plus long, qui peut être plus approprié pour évaluer la résistance à long terme des géomembranes et géosynthétiques bentonitiques, est décrit dans l'EN 13948.

Geosintetične ovire - Preskusne metode za ugotavljanje odpornosti proti koreninam

CEN/TS 14416 opisuje laboratorijski postopek hitre preskusne metode za ugotavljanje odpornosti polimernih, bitumenskih ali opečnatih geosintetičnih ovir proti koreninam. Primeren je za preskušanje varjenih šivov ali drugih območij z možnimi šibkimi točkami. Daljši preskus, ki je morda primernejši za preskušanje dolgoročne odpornosti geosintetičnih ovir, je opisan v standardu EN 13948.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 9 December 2013 for provisional application.

The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to submit their
comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.

CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS available
promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in parallel to the CEN/TS)
until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.
