Ta mednarodni standard določa posebne dokumente in njihovo osnovno vsebino za električne in instrumentalne projekte v procesni industriji. Ta standard določa ime in obvezno vsebino vrste dokumenta. Zajeti so dokumenti, ki so uporabljeni v fazah projekta od faze zasnove do mehanskega zaključka (glej standard IEC 62337). Dokumenti za projektno vodenje in zagotavljanje kakovosti so vključeni. Dokumenti za upravljanje komercialnih projektov niso vključeni. Za lažje iskanje, razumevanje in uporabo so zagotovljeni primeri dokumentov.

The following dates are fixed: • latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2016-01-01 • latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the document have to be withdrawn (dow) 2018-04-01
