Ta 1. del standarda EN 50382 določa splošne zahteve, ki se uporabljajo za kable, navedene v standardu EN 50382-2. Vključuje podrobne zahteve za izolacijske in oklopne materiale ter druge komponente, omenjene v standardu EN 50382-2. Standard EN 50382-1 zlasti določa tiste zahteve, ki so v povezavi s požarno varnostjo.
