This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN IEC 60335-2-36:2024; it was approved by CENELEC on 2024-08-07. CENELEC
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the
status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the
responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as
the official versions.

1 Modification to “Introduction”
With this European amendment A11, the standard
EN 60335-2-36:2002+A1:2004+Cor:2007+A2:2008+A11:2012 is superseded.
This European amendment A11 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of the standards below:
— EN 60335-1:2012+A11:2014+A13:2017+A1:2019+A14:2019+A2:2019+A15:2021+A16:2023 (Part 1)
— EN IEC 60335-2-36:2024 (Part 2)
2 Modification to Clause 1, “Scope”
Replace fourth paragraph starting with “As far as is practicable…”, except Note 102 and Note 103, with the
following:
“This document deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances that are
encountered by all persons in and around the installation place. However, in general, it does not take into
account:
— children playing with the appliance;
— the use of the appliance by children;
It is recognized that very vulnerable people can have needs beyond the level addressed in this document.”
Add a new bullet point in Note 103:
“—  gas, oil or solid fuel burning appliances (EN IEC 60335-2-102)”
Add as new paragraphs:
“Additional requirements for appliances with power driven moving parts are given in Annex ZE.
This document does not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from these appliances the
generated noise is not considered to be a relevant hazard. Thus, the emission sound pressure level L is
pA
≤ 70 dB(A).”

3 Modification to Clause 7, “Marking and instructions”
7.12 Modification:
In the seventh paragraph of the addition starting with “If any of symbols…”, add after “IEC 60417-5036
(2002-10)” the following: “, ISO 7000-0434A (2004-01)”
Addition:
The front cover of the instructions shall include the substance of the following:
CAUTION:  Read the instructions before using the appliance
This wording may be replaced by symbols ISO 7000-0434A and ISO 7000-0790.
Replace the modification in Part 2 with the following:
This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of
the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Add the following:
The instructions shall also state
— the intended use of the appliance as covered by the scope of this document;
— instructions regarding user maintenance and operation of the appliance and, if necessary, instructions
for the training of operators;
— instructions designed to enable adjustment and maintenance to be carried out safely, including the
protective measures that should be taken during these operations;
— the conditions under which the appliance is stable during use, dismantling when out of use, testing or
foreseeable breakdowns;
— the operating method to be followed in the event of accident or breakdown to prevent unsafe actions;
— information regarding the use of personal protection equipment in case of spreading hot food stuff;
— Warning concerning possible slippery floor adjacent to the appliance.
Add the following:
The instructions shall also state the maximum weight of the empty appliance.
7.12.1 Replace the third paragraph with the following:
The instructions shall state that any repairs shall be carried out by competent persons.
Add the following:
The instructions for table-top appliances shall state that a support is needed so that the working height of the
appliance is between 695 and 980 mm.
Add the following subclause:
7.12.Z101
The instructions shall include the possible reasonably foreseeable misuse and, whenever relevant, a warning
against the effects it may have on the safe use of the appliance. At least, it shall include the substance of the
following:
WARNING: Appliances shall be disconnected from their power supply during cleaning or maintenance
and when replacing parts.
Compliance is checked by inspection.
4 Modification to Clause 8, “Protection against access to live parts”
8.1.1 Addition
Add in third paragraph starting with “Test probe B and probe 18 of EN 61032.“ the following:
“Test probe 18 is not applicable unless the appliance is intended to be installed in an area open to the
public.”
5 Modification to Clause 20, “Stability and mechanical hazards”
20.2 Addition
In the second dashed item starting with “test probe 18 of EN 61032.“, add the following:
“Test probe 18 is not applicable unless the appliance is intended to be installed in an area open to the
public.”
6 Modification to Clause 22, “Construction”
22.48 Addition
After the first paragraph, add the following:
For appliances within the scope of this document without cleaning system, Fluid Category is 2 according to
EN 61770:2009 .
For appliances within the scope of this document with cleaning system, Fluid Category is 3 according to
EN 61770:2009 .
Add the following new sub clauses:
22.Z.101 Appliances shall meet the following ergonomic requirements:
— The working height of the hob shall be between 695 and 980 mm,
— The centre of the rear hob elements level if protruding the surface shall be a maximum of 640 mm from
the front edge of the appliance,
— Operator controls shall be
— attached at a minimum height of 350 mm,
— clearly visible and identifiable,
— positioned within easy reach of the operator's hand
— secured against accidental actuation, if their actuation could result in a hazard.
Compliance is checked by inspection.
NOTE Guidance can be found in EN 614-11 and EN 614-21.
22.Z.102 Appliances shall meet hygiene requirements.
Compliance is checked by inspection and by the requirements of Annex ZAA.
22.Z.103 Filling and draining taps, if any, shall be designed and constructed so that it is not possible to
inadvertently open them.
Compliance is checked by inspection and by manual test.
NOTE For example, this requirement is met when the valve handle is such that, when released, it returns
automatically to the closed position or is of the wheel type or is placed in a recess.
7 Modification to annexes
The annexes of Part 1 are applicable except as follows:

As impacted by EN 61770:2009/AC:2011, EN 61770:2009/A11:2018, EN 61770:2009/A1:2019 and
EN 61770:2009/A12:2022.
