Tests on electric and optical fibre cables under fire conditions - Part 2-1: Test for vertical flame propagation for a single small insulated wire or cable - Apparatus

Specifies the test apparatus for testing the resistance to vertical flame propagation for a single small vertical electrical insulated conductor or cable, or optical fibre cable, under fire conditions. The procedure, together with an informative annex of recommended requirements for performance, is given in EN 60332-2-2. Has the status of a group safety publication in accordance with IEC Guide 104.

The text of document 20/699/FDIS, future edition 1 of IEC 60332-2-1, prepared by IEC TC 20, Electric
cables, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as
EN 60332-2-1 on 2004-09-01.
This European Standard, together with EN 60332-1-1, supersedes EN 50265-1:1998.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2005-06-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2007-09-01
