IEC 61280-1-1:2013 applies to fibre optic general communication subsystems. The object of this part is to measure the optical power coupled from the output of a transmitter under test into single-mode optical fibre cable containing dispersion-unshifted fibre or dispersion-shifted fibre. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1998. This second edition constitutes a technical revision. The significant technical change with respect to the previous edition is the inclusion of Annex A on how to account for uncertainties. There are editorial corrections throughout the document and updates to references. L'IEC 61280-1-1:2013 s'applique aux sous-systèmes généraux de télécommunications à fibres optiques. Elle a pour objet la mesure de la puissance optique d'un émetteur couplé à un câble à fibres optiques unimodales à dispersion décalée ou non décalée. Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition publiée en 1998. Cette deuxième édition constitue une révision technique. La modification technique significative par rapport à l'édition antérieure réside dans l'ajout de l'Annexe A relative à la méthode de prise en compte des incertitudes. Des corrections rédactionnelles figurent dans l'ensemble du document, ainsi que des mises à jour de références. Fibre-optic communication subsystem test procedures - Part 4-5: Installed cabling plant - Attenuation measurement of MPO terminated fibre optic cabling plant using test equipment with MPO interfaces

IEC 61280-4-5:2020 is applicable to the measurement of attenuation and determination of polarity and length of installed multimode and single-mode optical fibre cabling plant, terminated with MPO connectors, using test equipment having an MPO interface. This cabling plant can include multimode or single-mode optical fibres, connectors, adapters, splices, and other passive devices. The cabling can be installed in a variety of environments including residential, commercial, industrial, and data centre premises, as well as outside plant environments. In this document, the optical fibres that are addressed include sub-categories A1-OMx, where x = 2, 3, 4 and 5 (50/125 μm) multimode optical fibres, as specified in IEC 60793-2-10, and category B-652 and B-657 (9/125 μm) single-mode optical fibres, as specified in IEC 60793-2-50. The attenuation measurements of the other multimode and single-mode categories can also be made using a light source and power meter (LSPM) or optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) utilising an internal or external optical switch having one MPO interface. Multimode measurements are made with an 850 nm source because transceivers used for parallel optics applications having an MPO interface only operate at 850 nm; 1 300 nm measurements are optional. Single-mode measurements are made with a 1 310 nm and/or 1 550 nm source because transceivers used for parallel optics applications having an MPO interface operate at these wavelengths. This document does not include descriptions of cabling that is not exclusively MPO to MPO.

Fibre optics - Multimode launch conditions - Part 1: Launch condition requirements for measuring multimode attenuation

IEC 62614-1:2020 describes the launch condition requirements used for measuring multimode attenuation in passive components and in installed cable plants. In this document, the fibre types that are addressed include category A1-OMx, where x = 2, 3, 4 and 5 (50 µm/125 µm), and A1-OM1 (62,5 µm/125 µm) multimode fibres, as specified in IEC 60793-2-10. The nominal test wavelengths detailed are 850 nm and 1 300 nm. This document can be suitable for multimode attenuation measurements for other multimode categories and/or other wavelengths, but the source condition for other categories and wavelengths are not defined here. The purpose of these requirements is as follows:
- to ensure consistency of field measurements when different types of test equipment are used;
- to ensure consistency of factory measurements when different types of test equipment are used;
- to ensure consistency of field measurements when compared with factory measurements.
This document describes launch condition requirements for optical attenuation using sources with a controlled encircled flux (EF). This first edition cancels and replaces IEC 62614, published in 2010, and constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC 62614:
a) increase of the value of the uncertainty attenuation variation coefficient Y for 50 µm core fibre at 1 300 nm, due to launch conditions, to twice the previous value;
b) changes to 3.4, 5.6, including Table 5, and some references to remain consistent with IEC 61280-4-1:2019;
c) changes to multimode fibre references to be consistent with IEC 60793-2-10:2019.

Dynamic modules - Part 2-1: Reliability qualification - Test template

IEC 62343-2-1:2019 provides a reliability qualification test template for dynamic modules (DMs). The template describes the reliability qualification test items and provides information on requirements or options. Example test conditions are given for information purposes in Annex A. For reliability qualification purposes, some information about the internal components, parts and interconnections is needed. These internal parts are treated as black boxes. This document gives requirements for the evaluation of DM reliability by combining the reliability of such internal black boxes. The object of this reliability qualification test template is to provide a framework for the reliability qualification tests for DMs. Developers of reliability qualification tests for DMs determine the test conditions for each test item by referring to the examples in Annex A.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 2009. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) changes to Annex F on encircled flux to harmonise with IEC TR 62614-2, but keeping the encircled flux limits defined in Tables F.2 to F.5 unchanged;
b) addition of an equipment cord method in Annex D;
c) inclusion of testing bend insensitive multimode optical fibre;
d) updates to measurement uncertainty;
e) definition of additional cabling configurations;
