Foreword

1 Scope
This International Standard specifies the main characteristics of M14 · 1,25 spark-plugs with conical seating with
normal reach, long reach and extra long reach and their cylinder head housings, for use with spark-ignition engines.

3 Requirements
3.1 Terminals
The spark-plug terminal may be either the solid post or the threaded type as specified in ISO 14508.
A spark-plug with threaded terminal on which a nut is applied shall respect the dimensions specified for spark-plugs
with solid post terminals (see figure 1).

3.2.1 Length dimensions
The length dimensions are measured from a gauging plane defined by diameter 14,8 mm on the seating.
3.2.2 Spark-plug reach
Spark-plug reach shall be in accordance with table 1.

3.2.3 Threads for spark-plugs and cylinder heads
The threads of M14 · 1,25 spark-plugs and the corresponding tapped holes in the cylinder head shall conform to
ISO 68, ISO 261, ISO 965-1 and ISO 965-3. Their limiting dimensions and their tolerance classes are specified in
3.2.3.1 and 3.2.3.2 respectively.
3.2.3.1 Limiting dimensions
The limiting dimensions shall be as given in table 2.

1 Domaine d’application
La présente Norme internationale spécifie les caractéristiques essentielles des bougies d'allumage du type
M14 · 1,25 à siège conique, à culot normal, à culot long, à culot extra-long, et de leurs logements dans la culasse,
destinées aux moteurs à allumage commandé.
2 Références normatives

3 Exigences
3.1 Bornes
La borne de la bougie d'allumage peut être du type monobloc ou du type fileté, tels que spécifiés dans l'ISO 14508.
Une bougie d'allumage à borne filetée munie d'un écrou doit respecter les dimensions spécifiées pour les bougies
d'allumage à borne monobloc (voir figure 1).

3.2 Dimensions et filetages

3.2.1 Cotes de longueur
Les cotes de longueur sont mesurées à partir d'un plan de jauge défini par le diamètre 14,8 mm sur le siège.
3.2.2 Longueur de culot
Les longueurs de culot doivent être conformes aux dimensions données dans le tableau 1.

3.2.3 Filetages pour bougies d'allumage et culasses
Les filetages des bougies d'allumage M14 · 1,25 et les taraudages correspondants dans la culasse doivent être
conformes à l’ISO 68, l’ISO 261, l’ISO 965-1 et l’ISO 965-3. Leurs dimensions limites et leurs classes de tolérance
sont spécifiées respectivement en 3.2.3.1 et 3.2.3.2.
