Paints and varnishes - Comparison of contrast ratio (hiding power) of paints of the same type and colour (ISO 2814:1973)

The standard specifies the standard method  being used in comparing the contrast ratios  given by paint films of white or light colours,  of reflectance factor greater than 40 %,  dried at normal temperatures and applied at  approximately equal wet film thicknesses to  black and white substrates.

Diese Internationale Norm legt das Standardverfahren fest, das anzuwenden ist zum Vergleichen der Kontrastverhältnisse von Beschichtungen aus Beschichtungsstoffen mit weißer oder heller Farbe, mit einem Reflexionsfaktor über 40 %, wenn die Beschichtungen bei Raumtemperatur getrocknet und mit annähernd gleicher Flüssigschichtdicke  auf schwarze und weiße Substrate aufgezogen wurden.
ISO ) legt das Verfahren zum Bestimmen des Deckvermögens (Kontrastverhältnisses) eines Beschichtungs-stoffes fest.

The text of ISO 2814:1973 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 "Paints and
varnishes” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over
as EN ISO 2814:2006 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 "Paints and varnishes", the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2006, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by August 2006.

According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium,
Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,
