Agricultural and forestry machinery and gardening equipment - Pedestrian controlled and hand-held machines - Determination of accessibility of hot surfaces

This European Standard specifies a method for combustion engine driven pedestrian controlled and hand-held machines with or without back pack power unit used in agriculture, forestry and gardening to determine those parts of the surfaces identified by the product specific standards that are hot surfaces and can be touched unintentionally by an operator during normal operation.
This European Standard is only applicable together with product specific standards for the categories of machines specified above.
This European Standard does not specify which surfaces shall be assessed.

Diese Norm enthält ein Prüfverfahren für handgeführte und handgehaltene land- und forstwirtschaftliche
Maschinen und Gartengeräte zur Bestimmung der Zugänglichkeit von heißen Oberflächen, die während des
normalen Betriebes von einer Bedienungsperson unbeabsichtigt berührt werden können.
ANMERKUNG 1 "normaler Betrieb" sollte im Abschnitt 3 der produktspezifischen Norm definiert sein.
Diese Norm darf nur zusammen mit einer produktspezifischen Norm angewendet werden.
Die produktspezifische Norm muss Festlegungen enthalten, welche Oberflächen von Maschinen oder Geräten
als heiß im Sinne dieser Norm zu betrachten sind. Diese Norm legt nicht fest, welche Oberflächen hinsichtlich
der Zugänglichkeit zu bewerten sind.
ANMERKUNG 2 Verfasser von Typ C-Normen sollten jedoch eine Ausnahme von dieser Prüfung bedenken für Teile
oder Systeme, die nicht geschützt werden können (z. B. die Innenseite und das Ende des Auslasses der Abgasanlage).

La présente norme spécifie une méthode pour les matériels a conducteur a pied et tenus a la main utilisés
dans l?agriculture, la foresterie et le jardinage, afin de déterminer le risque de contact involontaire des
opérateurs avec les surfaces chaudes pendant le fonctionnement normal.
NOTE 1 Il est recommandé de définir le terme "fonctionnement normal" dans l?Article 3 de la norme de produit
spécifique.
La présente norme ne doit pas etre utilisée que conjointement avec la norme produit spécifique.
Celle-ci doit spécifier quelles surfaces de la machine ou du matériel doivent etre considérées comme chaudes
dans le cadre de cette norme. La présente norme ne spécifie pas les surfaces dont l?accessibilité doit etre
évaluée.
NOTE 2 Cependant, il est recommandé que les auteurs des normes de type C excluent de cet essai les parties ou
systemes qui ne peuvent pas etre protégés (par exemple l?intérieur et l?extrémité d?un tuyau d?échappement).

EN 14930:2007 (E) 4 Introduction This European Standard is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100. Products with built-in engines or other heat-sources often show hot surfaces. If such a surface is touched by the unprotected skin, burning of the skin can occur. To avoid skin burning protective measures should be applied, especially in cases when the user of the product is not aware of the risk of burning. So it is essential to assess the risk of burning when using a product with a built-in heat source and to apply protective measures if necessary. This European Standard provides a test method to identify the touchable hot surfaces. Guidance for human response to contact with hot surfaces is given in EN 13202.
