EN 16261-4:2012 is a CEN European Standard that defines the minimum labelling requirements and mandatory instructions for use for Category 4 fireworks (pyrotechnic articles). • Printing and legibility: Labelling must be indelible, clear and on a contrasting background. Minimum CE mark height when tested: 5 mm.
• Very small items: If space is limited, minimum items (registration, CE + notified body ID, manufacturer/importer) on the item and full information on a protective pack labelled “Must be supplied as packaged”.
• Mandatory safety parameters (displayed in a single textbox, SI units): codes A, B, C, D, E, R, W (e.g., burst/effect height, sound pressure level, debris distance, incandescent matter, range for aquatic fireworks, overall duration, maximum firing angle). Format: X: Y.
• Operating instructions: Full instructions for safe handling, storage, use and disposal must be supplied (including product data for calculating safety distances).
