This European standard specifies minimum requirements for labelling of the article and for the end users documentation applicable to other pyrotechnic articles (except pyrotechnic articles for vehicles and ignition devices).

Dieses Dokument legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Kennzeichnung für den Gegenstand und für die Endbenutzerdokumentation fest, die für andere pyrotechnische Gegenstände (mit Ausnahme der pyrotechnischen Gegenstände für Fahrzeuge und Anzündvorrichtungen) gelten. Die folgenden Typen liegen im Anwendungsbereich dieses Dokuments:

EN 16263-5:2015 (E) 4 1 Scope This European Standard specifies the minimum labelling requirements and the mandatory instructions for use for other pyrotechnic articles (except pyrotechnic articles for vehicles, cartridges for powder actuated tools and ignition devices). 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole or in part, are referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application. NOTE According to Article 12 of Directive 2007/23/EC and Article 10 of Directive 2013/29/EU, manufacturer ensures the labelling in the official language(s) of the Member State in which the article is sold to the consumer. Special storage conditions (if any) are displayed on the packaging. Articles shall be marked with the information specified in 4.2 to 4.11. 4.2 Information on manufacturer or importer Labelling shall include the name and the address of the manufacturer. If the manufacturer is not established in the European Community, the labelling shall include the name of the manufacturer and the name and the address of the importer. The address shall comprise at least the town and the country. SIST EN 16263-5:2015



EN 16263-5:2015 (E) 5 4.3 Type of article, category and registration number 4.3.1 Type of article The subtype of the article or the generic type if the article does not belong to a subtype shall be marked in upper case according to EN 16263-3:2015, Clauses 4 and 5. 4.3.2 Name of article If a trade name is used in addition to the subtype or generic type, it shall not conflict with the principal effects of the relevant type of article or with the name of another type of article. If the trade name fully reflects the subtype or the generic type, they need not be repeated. The trade name may give additional information. EXAMPLE HAND HELD ROCKET white. If articles exhibit effects, in addition to the first principal effect, that might be unexpected by users, the sequence of effects shall be indicated for safety reasons: e.g. ‘2 x SHOT DISTRESS SIGNAL’. 4.3.3 Category and registration number The registration number for product traceability shall be marked in accordance with the example below: XXXX - YY - ZZZZ. where XXXX refers to the identification number of the notified body issuing the EC-type examination certificate; YY refers to the article category in abbreviated format (P1 or P2); and ZZZZ. is a processing number used by the notified body issuing the EC-type examination certificate according to module B or unit verification according to module G of Annex 2 of Directive 2007/23/EC and Directive 2013/29/EU. 4.3.4 Identification number of the notified body CE-marking is followed by the identification number of the Notified Body responsible for monitoring the quality system or checking conformity to type. 4.4 Age limits The minimum age limits applicable in the country in which the article is offered for retail sale shall be clearly stated on the label. The minimum age limit of 18 years applies for P1 articles, unless the individual Member State has modified these age limits according to the provisions of Directive 2007/23/EC, Article 7 (2). 4.5 Instructions for use Instructions for use shall be supplied by the manufacturer/importer, including information relating to any special ancillary equipment necessary for the safe use of the article. Safety information shall be emphasized by use of a heading, or bold type, or use of graphical symbols according to ISO 3864-1, ISO 7000 and/or EN ISO 7010. 1 Scope
This document specifies minimum labelling requirements for the article and for end users documentation
applicable to other pyrotechnic articles (except pyrotechnic articles for vehicles and ignition devices). The
following types are under the scope of this document:

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions indicated in prEN 16263-1, Pyrotechnic articles –
Other pyrotechnic articles – Part 1: Terminology apply.

4 Minimum labelling requirements
4.1 General
Manufacturers shall ensure that other pyrotechnic articles are properly labelled visibly, legibly and indelibly in
the official language(s) of the Member State in which the article is sold to the consumer.
Special storage conditions (if any) shall be displayed on the packaging.
Articles shall be marked with the information specified in 5.2 to 5.12.
4.2 Manufacturer or importer information
Labelling shall include the name or trademark and the address of the manufacturer.
If the manufacturer is not established in the European Community, the labelling shall include the name or
trademark of the manufacturer and the address of the importer or an abbreviation or a code allowing the
identification of the importer.
The address shall comprise at least the town and the country.
4.3 Type of article, category and registration number
4.3.1 Type of article
The type of article, either generic type or subtype, shall be marked, in upper case in conformity with prEN
16263-3, Pyrotechnic articles – Other pyrotechnic articles – Part 3: Categorisation, clause 4.
4.3.2 Name of article
If a trade name is used in addition to the technical name, it shall not conflict with the principal effects of the
relevant type of article or with the name of another type of article.
In the case of articles exhibiting effects after the first principal one, which might be unexpected, by users, the
corresponding sequence shall be indicated, for safety reasons: e.g. 2‘SHOT DISTRESS SIGNAL’.
4.3.3 Category and registration number
The registration number for products tracing shall be marked in accordance with the example below:
XXXX - YY - ZZZZ.
Where XXXX refers to the identification number of the notified body issuing the certificate, YY refers to the
article category in abbreviated format (P1 or P2), and where ZZZZ. is a processing number used by the
notified body.
4.3.4 Identification number of the notified body
CE-marking is followed by the identification number of the Notified Body responsible for monitoring the
existing quality system or checking conformity to type.
4.4 Age limits
The users minimum age limits shall be clearly stated on the label. The following minimum age limit apply:

4.5 Users' instructions and safety information: minimum content
So far as is practicable users instructions shall be stated on the label, especially for P1 products. If this is not
practicable, this information should be I compiled in a separate document.
Users’ instructions shall, when appropriate, include at least the following information:
1) Description and operating instructions for safe functioning (method of ignition shall be clearly
indicated). Standard safety phrases and/or pictograms as compiled in Annexes I and II could be
used.
2) For new pictograms, the design principles shall be in accordance with provisions in Council Directive
92/58/EEC of 24 June 1992 on the minimum requirements for the provision of safety and/or health
signs at work incorporated. Complementary, ISO 3864 series shall be used.
3) Product data (effect type, effect duration, direction of ejection, sound pressure level etc.) shall be
unambiguously displayed on the article or be defined in users instructions.
4) Method of ignition, if not clearly visible or placed on the label, shall be indicated.
5) For P1 articles, method of ignition, firing environment and firing mode (connexions and ancillary
equipment) shall be described by simple, complete and unambiguous instructions.
