ISO 13229:2010 specifies a method for the determination of the viscosity number (also known as reduced viscosity) and K-value of an unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) resin derived from a pipe, fitting or compound.
In ISO 13229:2010, only the method for isolation (or separation) of the PVC resin is detailed.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Viskositätszahl (auch als reduzierte Viskosi-tät bezeichnet) und des K-Wertes eines weichmacherfreien Polyvinylchlorid-(PVC-)Harzes aus einem Rohr, Formstück oder Formmasse fest. In dieser Internationalen Norm wird nur das Verfahren zur Abspaltung (oder Separation) des PVC-Harzes beschrieben, während die Bestimmung der Viskositätszahl in ISO 1628-2 angegeben ist. Das Vorhandensein anderer Zusätze oder Polymere kann die Anwendung dieses Verfahrens ausschließen (siehe Abschnitt 3).

L'ISO 13229:2010 spécifie une méthode de détermination de l'indice de viscosité (également appelé «viscosité réduite») et de la valeur K d'une résine de poly(chlorure  de vinyle) (PVC) non plastifié prélevée sur un tube, un raccord ou une composition.
Dans l'ISO 13229:2010, seule la méthode de séparation de la résine PVC est détaillée.

Ta mednarodni standard določa metodo za ugotavljanje viskoznostnega števila (znanega tudi kot reducirane viskoznosti) in izračunavanje K-vrednosti nemehčane polivinilkloridne (PVC) smole, pridobljene iz cevi, fitinga ali zmesi.
V tem mednarodnem standardu je podrobno opisana le metoda za izolacijo (oziroma ločevanje) PVC-smole, ugotavljanje viskoznostnega števila pa je podano v ISO 1628-2.
Prisotnost drugih aditivov ali polimerov lahko to metodo razveljavi (glej točko 3).

The text of ISO 13229:2010 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 138 “Plastics pipes, fittings
and valves for the transport of fluids” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been
taken over as EN ISO 13229:2011 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 155 “Plastics piping systems and ducting
systems” the secretariat of which is held by NEN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2012, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by March 2012.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 922:1994.
