This document specifies requirements for materials used in vulcanized rubber seals for the following: a) cold drinking-water supplies (up to 50 °C); b) drainage, sewerage, and rainwater systems (continuous flow up to 45 °C and intermittent flow up to 95 °C). The different designations of seals specified are defined according to their type, application, and requirements (see Table 5). General requirements for finished joint seals are also given; any additional requirements called for by the particular application are specified in the relevant product standards, taking into account that the performance of pipe joints is a function of the seal material properties, seal geometry, and pipe joint design. This document is intended to be used, where appropriate, with product standards which specify performance requirements for joints. This document is applicable to joint seals for all pipeline materials, including iron, steel, clay, fibre cement, concrete, reinforced concrete, plastics, and glass-reinforced plastics. It is applicable to elastomeric components of composite or non-composite seals. In the case of composite seals for materials of hardness ranges from 76 IRHD-M to 95 IRHD-M, the requirements for elongation at break, compression set, and stress relaxation apply only when the material is participating in the sealing function or in the long-term stability of the seal. Joint seals made with an enclosed void as part of their design are included in the scope of this document.

This document specifies the characteristics of solid-wall oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) fittings for piping systems intended to be used underground or above ground where protected from direct sunlight, for water supply, buried drainage, sewerage, treated wastewater and irrigation under pressure. This document is applicable to double sockets, repair couplings, reducers and to non-end load bearing elbows only. This document is not applicable to tees, flange adaptors, etc. NOTE For double sockets, repair couplings, and reducers, there are no special fittings designs for end-load bearing applications. However, restrained gaskets can be used for end-load bearing applications. In this case, the requirements of ISO 16422-5 are applicable. This document also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document. In conjunction with ISO 16422-1 and ISO 16422-5, this document is applicable to oriented PVC-O pipes with or without an integral socket, intended to be used for the following: a) water mains and services lines; b) conveyance of water for both outside and inside buildings; c) drainage, sewerage and treated wastewater under pressure; d) irrigation under pressure. This document is applicable to piping systems intended for the supply of water under pressure up to and including 25 °C (cold water), intended for human consumption and for general purposes as well as for wastewater under pressure. This document is also applicable to components for the conveyance of water and wastewater up to and including 45 °C. For temperatures between 25 °C and 45 °C, see ISO 16422-2, Figure C.1. The piping system according to this document is intended for the conveyance of cold water up to pressure of 25 bar[1] and especially in those applications where special performance requirements are needed, such as impact loads and pressure fluctuations, up to pressure of 25 bar. [1] 1 bar =0,1 MPa=105 Pa; 1 MPa= 1 N/mm2

This document specifies the characteristics and the requirements of air gap with non-circular overflow (unrestricted) Family A, Type B for nominal flow velocity not exceeding 3 m/s. Air gaps are devices for protection of potable water in water installations from pollution by backflow. This document applies to air gaps in factory-assembled products and to constructed air gaps in situ and defines requirements and methods to verify and ensure compliance with this document during normal working use.
The fluid in the receiving vessel is assumed to have similar properties to the water supply. Where this is not the case, additional care or tests could be required to verify the efficacy of the solution in practical use.

This document specifies dimensions, materials and performance requirements (including methods of test) for expansion valves, of nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 32, having working pressures ) from 0,1 MPa (l bar) to 1,0 MPa (10 bar).
Expansion valves are intended for fitting to the cold potable water supply of storage water heaters, having a maximum distribution temperature of 95 °C, for all energy sources.
Expansion valves do not control the temperature and alone do not constitute the protection required for storage water heaters. Expansion valves limit pressure, in the water heaters to what they are fitted, that is produced by thermal expansion of the water.
NOTE   The use of the device specified in this document does not override the need to use controls (e.g. thermostats and cut-outs) which act directly on the power sources of water heaters (for more information see Annex A).

This document provides details about the aggressiveness factors, evaluation indicators of raw water, or inlet water of ductile iron pipe system and relevant lining information applicable to ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories used in water mains and distribution system. This document is intended to serve as a tool for estimating the properties of certain water and their effect on internal linings of ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories used in water mains and distribution system which are specified in ISO 2531, ISO 16631 and can be used to decide the most appropriate protective measures to ensure long term durability of pipeline. It is not always possible to definitively determine the aggressive parameters of certain water, and fully considered by limited test and evaluation. Therefore, the history information of the evaluated water, experiences of local water works can be taken for reference. The aggressiveness evaluation of water can be carried out before determining the internal lining materials of certain pipeline, and the evaluation and relevant tests can be done by qualified laboratories and engineers. Water that leads to high-level scaling in the pipeline is believed aggressive. Drainage and waste water are not in the scope of this document, the internal protection of drainage and waste water can be recommended by pipe suppliers.

This document specifies the dimensional, physical-chemical, design, hydraulic, mechanical and acoustic characteristics of mechanical disconnectors, direct actuated Family G, type A.
This document is applicable to mechanical disconnectors in nominal sizes DN 8 up to DN 250, intended to prevent the return of water having lost its original sanitary and drinking qualities (called “polluted water” in this document), into the potable water distribution system whenever the pressure of the latter is temporarily lower than in the polluted circuit.
This document covers the mechanical disconnector of PN 10 that are capable of working without modification or adjustment:
- at any pressure up to 1,0 MPa (10 bar);
- with any pressure variation up to 1,0 MPa (10 bar);
- in permanent duty at a limit temperature of 65 °C and 90 °C for 1 h maximum.
It specifies also the test methods and requirements for verifying these characteristics, the marking and the presentation at delivery.

This document specifies, dimensions, materials and performance requirements (including methods of test) for expansion groups, of nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 25, having working pressures  from 0,1 MPa (1 bar) to 1,0 MPa (10 bar).
Expansion groups are fitted to the cold potable water supply only for expansion purposes, e.g. of storage water heaters, having a maximum distribution temperature of 95 °C.
Expansion groups limit pressure in the water heater to which they are fitted, that is produced by thermal expansion of the water, prevent the backflow of water into the supply pipe and prevent the discharged water to get into contact with the water in the water heater.
Expansion groups do not control temperature and alone do not constitute the protection required for storage water heaters.
NOTE   The use of the device specified in this document does not override the need to use controls (e.g. thermostats and thermal cut-outs) which act directly on the power sources of water heaters (for more information see Annex A).
