This European Standard gives safety requirements, and the means of verifying them, for the design and construction of guards, only able to be opened with a tool, which are used to guard the moving parts of the power transmission of self-propelled ride-on machines and mounted, semi-mounted or trailed machines used in agriculture. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices (including residual risks) to be provided by the manufacturer. It deals with the significant hazards (as listed in Annex A), hazardous situations and events relevant to guards of moving parts of power transmission used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clauses 4 and 5). It is not applicable to guards for moving parts of the power transmission of: - tractors, - aircraft, - air cushion vehicles, or - lawn and garden equipment.

Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt Sicherheitsanforderungen und Maßnahmen zu deren Überprüfung für die Gestaltung und Konstruktion von Schutzeinrichtungen, die nur mit Hilfe eines Werkzeuges geöffnet werden können und zum Schutz von bewegten Teilen der Kraftübertragung bei selbstfahrenden, angebauten, aufgesattelten und gezogenen Maschinen, die in der Landwirtschaft eingesetzt werden, verwendet werden. Zusätzlich legt sie fest, welche Informationen zum sicheren Betrieb (einschließlich Restgefahren) vom Hersteller zur Verfügung zu stellen sind.
Sie behandelt signifikante Gefährdungen (siehe Anhang A), Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungs-ereignisse, die für Schutzeinrichtungen für bewegliche Teile der Kraftübertragung, die bestimmungsgemäß und unter den vom Hersteller vorgesehenen Bedingungen eingesetzt werden (siehe Abschnitte 4 und 5), relevant sind.
Sie ist nicht anwendbar auf Schutzeinrichtungen für bewegte Teile der Kraftübertragung von:
- Traktoren,
- Luftfahrzeuge,
- Luftkissenfahrzeuge oder
- Rasen- und Gartengeräte.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences générales de sécurité et leurs vérifications pour la conception et la construction des protecteurs, à ouverture avec outil, des éléments mobiles de transmission de puissance des machines automotrices à conducteur porté et des machines portées, semi-portées ou traînées, utilisées en agriculture. En outre, elle spécifie le type d'informations que le fabricant doit donner sur les pratiques d'utilisation sûre (y compris les risques résiduels).
Elle traite tous les phénomènes dangereux (tels que listés dans l'Annexe A), les situations et les événements dangereux significatifs applicables aux protecteurs des éléments mobiles de transmission de puissance lorsqu’ils sont utilisés normalement et dans les conditions prévues par le fabricant (voir les Articles 4 et 5).
Elle ne s'applique pas aux protecteurs des éléments mobiles de transmission de puissance des :
- tracteurs ;
- aéronefs ;
- véhicules sur coussin d'air, ni des
- matériels de jardinage ou horticole.

Ta evropski standard podaja varnostne zahteve ter načine njihovega preverjanja, za načrtovanje in konstrukcijo ščitnikov, ki jih je mogoče odstraniti le z orodjem, ki se uporabljajo za zaščito premičnih delov pogonskih prenosov samognanih strojev, na katerih se upravljavec vozi, ter nošenih, polnošenih in vlečenih strojev, ki se uporabljajo v kmetijstvu. Poleg tega opredeljuje vrste podatkov glede varnih delovnih postopkov (vključno s preostalimi tveganji), ki jih mora zagotoviti proizvajalec. Obravnava velike nevarnosti (kot so navedene v Dodatku A), nevarne situacije in primere, ki se nanašajo na ščitnike premičnih delov pogonskih prenosov pri uporabi v skladu z namembnostjo ter pod pogoji, ki jih je predvidel proizvajalec (glej Klavzuli 4 in 5). Ne uporablja se za ščitnike premičnih delov pogonskih prenosov pri: - traktorjih, - letalih, - vozilih na zračni blazini, ali – opremi za nego trate in vrta.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2010, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by March 2010. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. EN 15811:2009 (E) 4 Introduction The structure of safety standards in the field of machinery is as follows. a) Type-A standards (basis standards) give basic concepts, principles for design, and general aspects that can be applied to machinery. b) Type-B standards (generic safety standards) deal with one or more safety aspect(s) or one or more type(s) of safeguards that can be used across a wide range of machinery: type-B1 standards on particular safety aspects (e.g. safety distances, surface temperature, noise); type-B2 standards on safeguards (e.g. two-hands controls, interlocking devices, pressure sensitive devices, guards); c) Type-C standards (machinery safety standards) deal with detailed safety requirements for a particular machine or group of machines.
