Coating powders - Part 12: Determination of compatibility (ISO 8130-12:2019)
This document specifies a visual method to determine the deterioration of surface quality of the final coating when mixing two different coating powders. The surface quality will depend on the following characteristics of the coating powders:
a) the chemical reactivity;
b) the chemical composition;
c) the melt properties.
The onset of the incompatibility in appearance, its nature and its extent will depend greatly on the ratio in which the powders are mixed. The nature of the incompatibility in surface appearance can manifest itself in various ways, described in Clause 8.
This test is useful in predicting the possibility of incompatibility arising from mixing different powders both during the manufacturing process and during the application of the coating powder.
This document concerns only changes in visual aspects of the coating. The mixture series can also be used for testing properties such as mechanical properties, chemical properties, corrosive properties and resistance against UV radiation. Further properties can be agreed between interested parties.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren fest, mit dem bestimmt werden kann, ob das Mischen zweier unter-schiedlicher Pulverlacke zu einer Verschlechterung der Oberflächenqualität der sich ergebenden Beschich-tung führt. Die Oberflächenqualität hängt von folgenden Eigenschaften der Pulverlacke ab:
a) der chemischen Reaktivität;
b) der chemischen Zusammensetzung;
c) der Schmelzeigenschaften.
Der Beginn einer Verschlechterung des Aussehens, deren Art und deren Ausmaß hängen stark vom Mi-schungsverhältnis der Pulver ab. Die Art der Verschlechterung des Aussehens der Oberfläche kann sich in unterschiedlicher Weise zeigen, wie in Abschnitt 8 beschrieben.
Diese Prüfung ist nützlich zur Voraussage möglicher Unverträglichkeit als Folge von Mischen unter-schiedlicher Pulver, sowohl während der Herstellung als auch während der Anwendung von Pulverlacken.
Dieses Dokument betrifft nur Änderungen des Aussehens. Die Mischungsreihen können auch angewendet werden, um Eigenschaften wie z. B. mechanische Eigenschaften, chemische Eigenschaften, korrosive Eigen-schaften, UV Beständigkeit, zu prüfen. Weitere Prüfungen können zwischen den Vertragspartnern verein-bart werden.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode visuelle pour déterminer la détérioration de la qualité de surface du revêtement final lorsque l'on mélange deux poudres pour revêtement différentes. La qualité de surface dépend des caractéristiques suivantes des poudres pour revêtement:
a) la réactivité chimique ;
b) la composition chimique ;
c) les propriétés de fusion.
La survenue, la nature et l'étendue de l'incompatibilité sur l'apparence de surface dépendent largement du rapport selon lequel les poudres sont mélangées. La nature de l'incompatibilité sur l'apparence de surface peut se manifester de diverses manières, décrites à l'Article 8.
Le présent essai s'avère utile pour prédire une éventuelle incompatibilité due au mélange de différentes poudres, que ce soit au cours du processus de fabrication ou lors de l'application de la poudre pour revêtement.
Le présent document ne concerne que les modifications d'aspect visuel des revêtements. La série de mélanges peut également être utilisée pour soumettre à essai des propriétés mécaniques, chimiques, corrosives et de résistance aux rayonnements UV. D'autres propriétés peuvent être convenues entre les parties intéressées.

Ta dokument določa vizualno metodo za ugotavljanje poslabšanja kakovosti površine končnega premaza, kadar sta zmešana dva različna praškasta premaza. Kakovost površine je odvisna od naslednjih značilnosti praškastih premazov:
a) kemična reaktivnost,
b) kemična sestava,
c) lastnosti taljenja.
Pojav nezdružljivosti v videzu, naravi in obsegu je močno odvisna od razmerja mešanja praškov. Narava nezdružljivosti v videzu površine se lahko odraža na različne načine, ki so opisani v 8. točki.
Ta preskus je uporaben pri napovedovanju verjetnosti nezdružljivosti zaradi mešanja različnih praškov med proizvodnim procesom in nanašanjem praškastega premaza.
Ta dokument se nanaša le na vizualne spremembe premaza. Serije mešanic je mogoče uporabljati tudi za preskušanje lastnosti, kot so mehanske lastnosti, kemične lastnosti, korozivne lastnosti in odpornost na ultravijolično sevanje. Zainteresirane strani se lahko dogovorijo o dodatnih lastnostih.

This document (EN ISO 8130-12:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 "Paints
and varnishes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and varnishes” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by November 2019, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by November 2019.

This document was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35, Paints and varnishes, Subcommittee
SC 9, General test methods for paints and varnishes.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 8130-12:1998), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— a clause on terms and definitions has been added;
— the duplicate determination has been changed to single determination;
— the concentrations in the scale have been numbered and two new concentrations have been added;
— in case the initial assessment is not conclusive, a list of test methods has been added;
— an example for a test report has been added;
— the text has been editorially revised and the normative references have been updated.
