Prikazovalniki s tekočimi kristali - 10-1. del: Mehanske preskusne metode

Overview

SIST EN 61747-10-1:2014 defines standardized mechanical test methods for liquid crystal display (LCD) devices. Aligned with IEC 61747-10-1:2013, this European and Slovenian standard specifies methods for evaluating the mechanical robustness and reliability of LCD cells and modules. Its main objective is to establish uniform testing procedures and preferred stress values to judge LCD mechanical properties, promoting product durability and consistent quality across electronic display devices.

This standard integrates key elements from the IEC 60068 series on environmental testing, particularly focusing on vibration, shock, and bonding tests. The adoption of harmonized test approaches accelerates the evaluation of mechanical properties for LCD manufacturers, test labs, and product certification bodies.

Key Topics

  • Scope and Uniformity: Lists preferred mechanical test methods and stress values for LCD devices, ensuring accurate assessment of product robustness.
  • Referenced Testing Protocols: Utilizes standardized environmental and mechanical test methods from IEC 60068, ensuring international compatibility.
  • Test Methods Include:
    • Robustness of Terminations: Covers tensile, bending, torsion, and torque tests for LCD lead terminations.
    • Solderability and Heat Resistance: Details methods for assessing the resistance of display terminations to soldering heat.
    • Vibration Testing: Specifies frequency ranges, vibration amplitudes, point tolerances, and endurance durations.
    • Shock Testing: Outlines shock severity levels and specified directions for comprehensive durability evaluation.
    • Steady-State Acceleration: Defines acceleration levels for ruggedness under constant forces.
    • Bond Strength Test: Evaluates the integrity of flexible flat cable bonds essential for flat panel display reliability.
  • Standardized Environmental Conditions: Prescribes temperature, humidity, and pressure ranges for accurate, repeatable measurements.

Applications

Adhering to SIST EN 61747-10-1:2014 is vital for organizations involved in the design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and certification of liquid crystal display devices. Practical applications include:

  • Product Development: Ensures LCD modules and panels meet mechanical durability expectations required for different industries, including consumer electronics, industrial automation, and automotive displays.
  • Quality Assurance: Offers a clear and uniform reference for validating the mechanical resilience of LCD products before market release.
  • Compliance & Certification: Serves as a framework for third-party testing and conformity assessment, boosting confidence in product reliability.
  • Procurement Specifications: Provides purchasers and system integrators with standardized references when specifying LCD mechanical robustness requirements.
  • Failure Analysis: Guides laboratories in replicating real-world mechanical stresses to assess root causes of field failures or warranty claims.

Related Standards

SIST EN 61747-10-1:2014 works in conjunction with several related international and European standards:

  • IEC 60068 Series: Core environmental and mechanical test methods for electronic/electrical equipment.
    • IEC 60068-2-6: Sinusoidal vibration testing.
    • IEC 60068-2-7: Acceleration, steady state.
    • IEC 60068-2-20: Solderability and resistance to soldering heat.
    • IEC 60068-2-21: Robustness of terminations and mounting devices.
    • IEC 60068-2-27: Shock testing.
  • IEC 61747 Series: Comprehensive standards for LCD devices including generic specifications and specialized tests.
  • IEC 60749-14: Mechanical and climatic test methods for semiconductor device terminations.

By utilizing the methodologies prescribed in SIST EN 61747-10-1:2014, professionals can ensure their liquid crystal display devices are rigorously tested for mechanical integrity, facilitating greater reliability in end-user applications and compliance with international best practices.

1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC

in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
interested IEC National Committees.
3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National
