ElectroMagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM); Short Range Devices (SRD); Radio equipment to be used in the 25 MHz to 1 000 MHz frequency range with power levels ranging up to 500 mW; Part 2: Supplementary parameters not intended for conformity purposes

EN 300 220-1 covers a wide range of telecommunication, telemetry and generic non-speech applications, such as alarm systems, identification, detection, remote control etc., in the frequency band 25 - 1000 MHz with power levels up to 500 mW.  The work programme is requested to take into account the comments received at the Vote stage of the  EN 300 220-1 which were considered as Technical comments rather then Editorial and therefore could not be considered.  In addition comments have been received on the definition of the Duty Cycle and clarification may be necessary.  Similarly, for wideband equipment (subclause 8.6) an investigation has been requested into the suitability of the stated value for maximum frequency error, currently defined as shall not exceed 10% of the assigned band or wideband channel. Based on the completion of the above investigations, if necessary, an amendment to the published EN 300 220-1 will be prepared for approval for publication.

The present document applies to ULP-AMI transceivers conforming to the following:
- inductive loop systems;
- with an antenna connection and/or with an integral antenna;
- for use as telecommunications and telecommand transmission to/from active medical implants.
ULP-AMI equipment has an inherent safety of human life implication, manufacturers and users are cautioned to pay particular attention to the potential for interference from other systems operating in the same or adjacent bands. The present document covers physician operated programmer/controllers transmitters (typically fixed stations), patient operated external transmitters (fixed or mobile stations) and implanted radio transmitting devices (portable stations). All types of digital modulation for radio devices are covered by the present document.
The radio equipment, covered by the classification SRD is divided into several power classes based on maximum radiated field strength or output power (see table 1). The power class designation is based on CEPT/ERC Recommendation 70-03 [2] and ERC Decisions.

Examples of digital cellular mobile and portable radio equipment covered by the present document are given in annex A.
In case of differences (for instance concerning special conditions, definitions, abbreviations) between the present document and EN 301 489-1 [1], the provisions of the present document take precedence. Base station (BS) equipment operating within network infrastructure is outside the scope of the present document. However, the present document does cover mobile and portable equipment that is intended to be operated in a fixed location while connected to the AC mains (see clause 5.5). The environment classification and the emission and immunity requirements used in the present document are as stated in EN 301 489-1 [1], except for any special conditions included in the present document.

It is a specific product standard covering specific close range inductive data equipment:
- with an inductive loop antenna;
- with an antenna connection and/or with an integral antenna;
- for alarms, identification systems, telecommand, telemetry, etc.
When selecting new applications, which may have inherent safety of human life implications, manufacturers and users should pay particular attention to the potential for interference from other systems operating in the same or adjacent bands. The present document covers fixed stations, mobile stations and portable stations. If a system includes transponders, these are measured together with the transmitter. All types of modulation for radio devices are covered by the present document, provided the requirements of clause 7 are met.
The radio equipment, covered by the present document has a maximum radiated field strength given in table 1.
On non-harmonized parameters, national administrations may impose conditions on the type of modulation, frequency, channel/frequency separations, maximum transmitter radiated field strength/maximum output current to a defined antenna, duty cycle, equipment marking and the inclusion of an automatic transmitter shut-off facility, as a condition for the issue of an individual or general licence, or as a condition for use under licence exemption. Two types of measuring methods are defined in the present document due to the varied nature of the types of equipment used in this band. One method measures the radiated H-field and the second the radiated power. The present document covers requirements for radiated emissions below as well as above 30 MHz. Additional standards or specifications may be required for equipment such as that intended for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
