Adhesives for load-bearing timber structures - Test methods - Part 5: Determination of the conventional assembly time

This European Prestandard specifies a laboratory method of determining the conventional assembly time for adhesives for load bearing timber structures under specified conditions.
This test method is not intended for use with adhesive systems in which the components are separately and sequentially applied to the substrate.
This prestandard is only intended for obtaining a reliable base of comparison between similar adhesives. The method gives result which cannot be applied to the safe manufacture of timber structures without modifications for the influences of timber density/absorbency, moisture content, factory temperature and relative air humidity.

Klebstoffe für tragende Holzbauteile - Prüfverfahren - Teil 5: Bestimmung der durchschnittlichen Antrockenzeit

Diese Europäische Vornorm legt ein Labor-Verfahren zur Bestimmung der durchschnittlichen Antrockenzeit von Klebstoffen für tragende Holzbauteile unter festgelegten Bedingungen fest.
Dieses Prüfverfahren ist nicht für Klebstoffsysteme vorgesehen, deren Komponenten separat und nacheinander auf den Träger aufgebracht werden.
Diese Vornorm dient nur dazu, ähnliche Klebstoffe auf einer zuverlässigen Grundlage zu vergleichen. Die nach diesem Verfahren erhaltenen Ergebnisse können nicht unverändert für die zuverlässige Herstellung von Holzbauteilen verwendet werden, ohne die Einflüsse von Rohdichte und Absorptionsvermögen des Holzes, Feuchtegehalt, Verarbeitungs-temperatur und relativer Luftfeuchte zu berücksichtigen.

La présente Prénorme européenne décrit une méthode permettant de déterminer le temps d'assemblage conventionnel pour les adhésifs pour structures portantes en bois, dans des conditions climatiques spécifiées.
Cette méthode d'essai ne concerne pas les systemes d'adhésifs dont lesquels les composants sont appliqués au support séparément et par étapes.
L'objectif de la présente norme expérimentale est uniquement d'obtenir des données de performance fiables afin de pouvoir établir une comparaison entre des adhésifs similaires. La méthode d'essai fournit des résultats qui ne sont pas applicables dans le cadre de la fabrication sure des structures portantes en bois sans les modifications nécessaires pour tenir compte de l'influence de la masse volumique du bois et de son pouvoir d'absorption, de la teneur en humidité de la température et de l'humidité relative dans l'usine.

This European Prestandard (ENV) was approved by CEN on 4 October 2001 as a prospective standard for provisional application.
The period of validity of this ENV is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to submit their
comments, particularly on the question whether the ENV can be converted into a European Standard.
CEN members are required to announce the existence of this ENV in the same way as for an EN and to make the ENV available promptly
at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in parallel to the ENV) until the final
decision about the possible conversion of the ENV into an EN is reached.

Foreword
This European Prestandard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 193 "Adhesives", the secretariat
of which is held by AENOR.
This prestandard is one of a series dealing with adhesives for use with timber structures. The series consists of
seven test methods used to assess the performance of adhesives after specified heat and humidity treatments.
The other parts of the prestandard are :

prEN 302 - 1 Rev: Determination of longitudinal tensile shear strength;

prEN 302 – 2 Rev: Determination of resistance to delamination;

prEN 302 – 3 Rev: Determination of the effect of acid damage to wood fibres by temperature and humidity
cycling on the transverse tensile strength;

prEN 302 - 4 Rev: Determination of the effects of wood shrinkage on the shear strength;

prEN 302 - 6: Determination of the conventional pressing time;

prEN 302 - 7: Determination of the conventional working life.
No existing European Standard is superseded.
