This part of IEC 60335 deals with the safety of electric fishing machines by means of which
water may be electrified for the purpose of catching fish or for providing barriers to all animals
living in water.
The rated voltage of electric fishing machines is not more than 250 V for single phase
machines and 480 V for other machines, except that the rated voltage of electric fishing
machines for permanent connection to fixed wiring is not more than 1 000 V.
Electric fishing machines are appliances for scientific and commercial use.
Additional requirements for boat mounted electric fishing machines are given in Annex AA.
NOTE 101 Examples of electric fishing machines coming within the scope of this standard are:
– mains-operated electric fishing machines which include those supplied from portable or stationary generator
sets;
– battery-operated electric fishing machines.
NOTE 102 Attention is drawn to the fact that
– for appliances intended to be used on board ships or boats, additional requirements can be necessary;
– in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national
authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.
NOTE 103 This standard does not apply to
– electric fence energizers (IEC 60335-2-76);
– electric animal stunning equipment (IEC 60335-2-87);
– shark deterrent devices that are carried by the user.

This Part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60335-1 and its amendments. It was established on the basis of the fifth edition (2010) of that standard. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2002, its Amendment 1 (2005) and its Amendment 2 (2012). This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - aligns the text with IEC 60335-1, Ed 5, and its Amendments 1 and 2; - some notes have been converted to normative text (22.102, 22.113, 26.106); - requirements for battery-operated electric fishing machines have been moved to Annex S.

This European Standard specifies a standardised method for sampling fish in lakes, using benthic multi-mesh gillnets. The method provides a whole-lake estimate for species occurrence, quantitative relative fish abundance and biomass expressed as Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE), and size structure of fish assemblages in temperate lakes. It also provides estimates, which are comparable over time within a lake and between lakes. This European Standard specifies routines for sampling, data handling and reporting, and provides information on applications and further treatment of data. This European Standard also provides guidance on sampling of fish with pelagic multi-mesh gillnets and sampling of fish for age and growth analyses. Selected references in support of this European Standard are given in the Bibliography.

This International Standard establishes an approach for sampling and empirical measurement of soft-bottom impacts from marine finfish net pen farms, and gives examples of detailed procedures for how environmental impacts from finfish net pen farm sites can be monitored in the field, including guidelines for quality assurance of sampling protocols and safety. The emphasis of the environmental impact in this International Standard is on eutrophication effects on the seabed. This International Standard identifies ecological objectives, the indicators used, and the methodology and design, and encompasses guidelines for quality assurance of sampling protocols and operational safety.

This European Standard provides procedures to be used by trained persons in evaluating fish communities in streams, rivers and littoral areas for the purpose of classification of ecological status. These procedures allow standardisation of sampling methods for descriptions of fish communities. The use of standardised methods is a critical requirement for the comparability of results.
This European Standard describes an electric fishing method to be used when catching fish for the purpose of characterising species richness, composition, abundance and age structure of a given fish community. Sampling-related issues include obtaining permissions, concerns about endangered species, protective measures of importance for the user of the sampling apparatus and co-ordination of activities with other sampling programmes.
The processing of samples covers taxonomic identification, counting, measurement of biologic parameters (length, weight etc.), and examination of fish for external anomalies.
