IEC 62784:2017 covers electrical mobile motor-operated vacuum cleaners Equipment Protection Level (EPL) Dc. This includes dust extractors, for wet suction or dry suction, intended for commercial indoor use with or without attachments, to collect combustible dust in an explosive dust atmosphere. The requirements for the construction and testing covered by this document are applied in addition to the requirements for commercial and industrial vacuum cleaners in IEC 60335-2-69. This document supplements and modifies the requirements of IEC 60079-0. Whenever a requirement of this standard is in conflict with a requirement of IEC 60079-0 the requirement of this standard will take precedence. The following power systems are covered: - mains powered motors up to a rated voltage of 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. This document does not cover specific hazards associated with extreme ambient temperatures (less than –20 °C or higher than 40 °C) unless otherwise marked by the manufacturer as given in IEC 60079-0. The temperatures shall not exceed the temperature range of –20 °C to +60 °C. This document does not cover motorized cleaning heads for which additional requirements are under consideration. This document does not apply to: - back-pack vacuum cleaners; - vacuum cleaners with a traction drive; - vacuum cleaners and water-suction cleaning appliances for household use (IEC 60335-2-2); - floor treatment machines for commercial use (IEC 60335-2-67, IEC 60335-2-72); - spray extraction machines for commercial use (IEC 60335-2-68); - hand-held mains-operated electrical garden blowers, vacuums and blower vacuums (IEC 60335-2-100); - hand-held and transportable motor-operated electric tools (IEC 62841 series); - appliances for medical purposes (IEC 60601-1); - machines designed for use in corrosive environments; - machines designed for picking up flammable liquids; - machines designed for use in explosive environments due to the presence of explosive substances or pyrotechnical products, or unstable chemical substances.

IEC 60335-2-68:2012 deals with the safety of electrical portable, non-self-propelled motor-operated spray extraction machines with or without attachments and with or without electrical heating elements, intended for commercial indoor use. This standard applies to machines for commercial use. The following list, although not comprehensive, gives an indication of locations that are included in the scope: - public use areas such as hotels, schools, hospitals; - industrial locations, for example factories and manufacturing shops; - retail outlets, for example shops and supermarkets; - business premises, for example offices and banks; - rental services for those machines and all uses other than normal housekeeping purposes. They are not equipped with a traction drive. The following power systems are covered: mains powered motors up to a rated voltage of 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances and battery powered motors. This standard applies to machines in which the pressure of the employed cleaning agent does not exceed 2,5 MPa, and in which the product of the pressure (in MPa) and the flow of cleaning agent (in litres per minute) does not exceed 100, and in which the temperature of the cleaning agent at the spray nozzle outlet does not exceed 85 °C. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2002 and its Amendments 1 (2005) and 2 (2007). It constitutes a technical revision. IEC 60335-2-79:2012(E) deals with the safety of high-pressure cleaners without traction drive, intended for household and commercial indoor or outdoor use, having a rated pressure not less than 2,5 MPa and not exceeding 35 MPa. It also applies to steam cleaners and those parts of hot water high pressure cleaners incorporating a steam stage which have a capacity not exceeding 100 l, a rated pressure not exceeding 2,5 MPa and a product of capacity and rated pressure not exceeding 5 MPa x l. They are not equipped with a traction drive. The following power systems of the drive for the high pressure pump are covered: - mains powered motors up to a rated voltage of 250 V for single-phase machines and 480 V for other machines, - battery powered motors, - internal combustion engines and - hydraulic or pneumatic motors. It is under consideration that this standard also applies to machines handling hazardous dust, for example asbestos or liquids for which additional requirements apply. This standard does not take into account the special hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervisio; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to: - appliances for household and similar use to which EN 60335-2-2 applies; - centrally sited stationary vacuum cleaning systems; - appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas). For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour.

This standard applies to electric motor-driven floor polishing (including waxing and buffing), scrubbing and grinding, scarifying and carpet shampooing appliances primarily designed for industrial and commercial use, with or without attachments including appliances incorporating wet and/or dry suction which are not within the scope of EN 60335-2-10. Appliances incorporating wet and dry suction shall also meet the appropriate requirements for industrial vacuum cleaners.
