IEC 60297-3-109:2015 specifies dimensions and physical properties of chassis and associated printed boards in order to provide mechanical and environmental integrity for embedded computing devices. They are used in various applications such as machine control, medical, transportation, aerospace and telecommunication, typically based on single board computers. For the easy definition of the suitable chassis and associated single board dimensions, this standard is based on a structural grid of 44,45 mm (1,75 in). IEC 60297-3-108:2014 provides dimensions and features for R-type subracks and plug-in units, i.e. ruggedized variants of the mechanical structures of the 482,6 mm (19 in) series, with enhanced vibration and shock resistance and/or improved EMC performance, for use in more harsh environment. This leads to a subrack standard which is externally compatible with IEC 60297-3-100 but internally largely incompatible with IEC 60297-3-101. R-type subracks, chassis integrated subracks and plug-in units incorporate dimensions and features which provide for a higher level of ruggedness, compared with IEC 60297-3-101 (test set-up and load definitions are selected from IEC 61587-1 and IEC 61587-5). IEC 60297-3-107:2012 defines the interface dimensions between subracks and associated plug-in units using connectors as defined in PICMG-MTCA.0 (Fixed board, see Figure 7) and IEC 61076-4-116 (Two part, see Figure 12) and other two part connectors, (see Figure 15). For mechanical and climatic tests refer to IEC 61587-1. For electromagnetic shielding performance tests refer to IEC 61587-3.

IEC 60297-3-106:2010 Specifies dimensions for mounting flanges of 19 in subracks or chassis that are to be mounted into metric cabinets or racks. Additional dimensions for subracks or chassis are according to the IEC 60297 series, and for metric cabinets or racks to the IEC 60917 series. EMC, seismic, climatic and environmental requirements and tests, are defined in the IEC 61587 series.

IEC 60297-3-105:2008 specifies the dimensions for 1U chassis mounted into IEC 60297-3-100 compliant racks/cabinets where dimensions, loaded weight and accessibility require differing assembly methods. Guidance for cooling and reference for EMC, seismic and for the climatic and mechanical requirements and tests are provided, as defined in the IEC 61587 series.

IEC 60297-3-100:2008 specifies the basic dimensions of front panels, subracks, chassis, racks and cabinets of the 482,6 mm (19 in) series. Subsequent standards of the associated IEC 60297-3 series provide detail dimensions for specific parts of the equipment practice, where the basic dimensions are used as interface to other associated parts.

Covers the connector dependent interface dimensions for subracks and plug-in units in accordance with subracks of IEC 60297-3-101. Refers to two-part connectors of IEC 60603-2, IEC 61076-4-101, IEC 61076-4-113 and introduces the related subrack and plug-in unit interface dimensions.

IEC 60297-3-101:2004 Covers the basic dimensional relationship of a modular range of subracks and associated plug-in units in compliance with the IEC 60297 series. Specifies dimensions which will ensure dimensional interchangeability of subracks and associated plug-in units.

IEC 60297-3-102:2004 Covers only the additional interface dimensions for injector/extractor devices used with subracks and plug-in units according to IEC 60297-3-101. May also be used in conjunction with IEC 60297-3-103.

Covers only the additional interface dimensions for an alignment pin and a keying device used with subracks and plug-in units according to IEC 60297-3-101. May also be used in conjunction with IEC 60297-3-102.
