ISO/TC 5/SC 10 - Metallic flanges and their joints

ISO 7005-1:2011 establishes a base specification for pipe flanges suitable for general purpose and industrial applications including, but not limited to, chemical process industries, electric power generating industries, petroleum and natural gas industries. It places responsibility for the selection of a flange series with the purchaser. It is applicable to flanges within facilities engaged in the processing or handling of a wide variety of fluids, including steam, pressurized water and chemical, petroleum, natural gas or related products. ISO 7005-1:2011 is also applicable to packaged equipment piping, which interconnects individual pieces or stages of equipment within a packaged equipment assembly for use within facilities engaged in the processing or handling of a variety of fluids, including steam and chemical, petroleum, natural gas or related products.

Cancels and replaces the first edition (1980). Gives the definition of DN (nominal size) when applied to components of a pipework system, as specified in those standards which use the DN designation system. Gives a list of preferred DN values.

Specifies dimensions for the following types of gaskets: non-metallic flat; spiral wound; metallic ring-joint; non-metallic envelope; corrugated, flat or grooved metallic and filled metallic. Annexes A and B are for information only.

This part, together with parts 1 and 3, cancels and replaces ISO 2084:1974, ISO 2229:1973 and ISO 2441:1975. Specifies requirements for circular grey, malleable and ductile cast iron flanges of series 1 and 2. Annex A (guidance on tolerances on dimensions) and B (bibliography) are for information only.

Specifies requirements for circular flanges of series 1 and 2. It also specifies the types of flanges and their facings,dimensions, tolerances, bolt sizes (including copper alloy), flange face surface finish, marking, testing, insperation and materials. An annex includes application and installation.

The amendment refers to clause 2 'definition' and states: delete the text and substitute: nominal pressure (PN): A numerical designation which is a convenient round number for reference purposes. All equipent of the same nominal size (DN) designated by the same PN number shall have compatible mating dimensions. Gives additionally two notes.

Gives the definition of nominal pressure when applied to components fo a metallic piping system, and states two series of PN ratings for use with these components.

Specifies requirements for circular steel flanges in the PN series 1 and 2: types, facings, dimensions, tolerances, threading, bolt sizes, flange face surface finish, marking, testing and inspection. Annex D gives guidance on selected materials, and Annex E gives guidance on the pressure/temperature ratings for some flanges made from the materials listed in Annex D.
