ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 28/WG 3 - Productivity
Productivité
General Information
This document specifies a method for measuring single photo printing time of digital photo printing devices on a wide range of print technologies. This document is applicable to digital photo printing devices that can produce photo prints on either 2” × 3” (51 mm × 76 mm), L (89 mm × 127 mm), 4” × 6” (102 mm × 152 mm), A6 (105 mm × 148 mm), A4 (210 mm × 297 mm), 8,5” × 11” (215,9 mm × 279,4 mm), 11” × 17” (279,4 mm × 431,8 mm), A3 (297 mm × 420 mm) or A3+ size sheets. Devices can be connected to either the computer system, media card or mobile devices. This document includes test setup procedure, test runtime procedure and reporting requirements for the digital single photo printing time measurements. Instant photoprint systems, which do not complete image formation at the time of paper ejection from device, are out of the scope of this document.

This document specifies the minimum information to be included in the specification sheets of Class 3 and Class 4 printers in order for users to compare the characteristics of different machines. The term “specification sheets” applies to documents which describe the performance characteristics of the printers to be included in instruction manuals, product brochures or on websites. This document applies to printers that can be operated in an office environment. Printers requiring specially equipped rooms or specially instructed operators are not considered in this document. NOTE This document is intended to facilitate users in selecting a printer which meets their requirements. The ISO/IEC 11160 series deals with different classes of printers, such as class 3 and class 4 printers shown in Table C.1 of (Annex C). Elements for classification of printers is given in Annex A. Detailed descriptions of class 3 and class 4 printers are specified in (3.4) and (3.5). Serial printers which are classified as class 1 or class 2 printers as defined and covered in ISO/IEC 11160-1:1997, Annex C.

This document specifies a method for measuring the digital copying productivity of digital copying devices and multifunctional devices with various copying modes. It is applicable to digital copying devices and multifunctional devices equipped with automatic document feeder (ADF) and collating function. This document is intended to be used for black and white (B&W) as well as colour digital copying devices and multifunctional devices of any underlying marking technology. It allows comparison of the throughput copying rates for a machine operated in various available operating modes (simplex, duplex, size of substrates, 2-up, etc.) and various available digital image processing configurations. This document includes test files, test setup procedures, test procedures, and reporting requirements for digital copying productivity measurements. This document is not intended to be used for devices which are not able to copy on a media size of A4/8,5” × 11”, devices that do not have an ADF, or devices which are not able to collate multiple copies of original prints from a test set. This document is not intended to replace manufacturer's rated speeds.

This document specifies a method for determining scanning productivity by measuring "scanning speed", "scan to network folder speed" and "scan to PC speed". It includes test files, test setup procedure, test procedure and the reporting requirements for the scanning productivity measurements. This document is applicable to scanning devices including but not limited to multi-function devices, networked scanners and single-function scanners of any underlying scanning technology. This document is applicable to devices which are able to scan a media size of A4/8,5" × 11" and which have an automatic document feeder (ADF). It is also applicable to devices which have the ability to scan to network folder, or folder on PC and do not require, but can use, other application programs on a computer or another device to perform a scanning job. This document does not apply to testing and measurement of scan to USB, scan to local hard drive or other storage medium that is part of or plugged into the scanner. This document is not intended to be used for image quality measurement, document or record management of any scanned images.
