M/586 - Refrigerating Appliances

Purpose

This mandate aims to support the implementation of EU regulations regarding refrigerating appliances. It focuses specifically on energy labelling and ecodesign to enhance energy efficiency and environmental performance. The mandate facilitates the creation of harmonised standards that assist manufacturers and regulators in applying Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2016 on energy labelling and Regulation (EU) 2019/2019 on ecodesign requirements for refrigerating appliances.

Standardisation request

The request is for the development and revision of European standards related to refrigerating appliances covering the following areas:

• Energy labelling requirements as per Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2016
• Ecodesign criteria aligned with Regulation (EU) 2019/2019

These standards are intended to provide technical specifications and testing methods to ensure conformity with the regulatory requirements for energy consumption, performance, and environmental impact.

Expected deliverables

• Harmonised European standards for energy labelling of refrigerating appliances
• Harmonised European standards supporting ecodesign requirements for refrigerating appliances
• Technical methods for measuring energy consumption and verifying compliance with energy efficiency and environmental criteria

The deliverables will enable manufacturers to demonstrate compliance, facilitate market surveillance, and promote transparency and consumer information about energy performance.
