To prepare European Standards on methods of measurement of characteristics which are of importance to determine the performance of electrical appliances for household use or of electrical appliances for commercial use and that are of interest for the user. This may include associated aspects related to the use of the appliances and aspects such as the classification, accessibility and usability of appliances, ergonomic characteristics and conditions for the information provided at the point of sale. The standards are developed in order to suit the needs of EU Regulations and Directives and in the context of the European market. NOTE 1 Appliances for household use designates equipment intended for housekeeping functions such as washing, cleaning, heating, cooling, cooking, etc. and appliances intended for use in the home environment such as shavers, hair care appliances, food preparation appliances, etc. Appliances for household use cover use by non-expert users in similar conditions as in households, for example: - in shops, offices or other similar work environments; - in farm houses; - by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; - in bed and breakfast type environments, which are also considered as household appliances. NOTE 2 Appliances for commercial use designates equipment to be used by persons that have been trained on the use of such appliances and appliances and machines which are declared to be for commercial use by laypersons. NOTE 3 Appliances for industrial use are not covered by the standards prepared by CLC/TC 59X. NOTE 4 CLC/TC 59X does not deal with appliances which are already explicitly covered by the scope of other CENELEC/TCs or CEN/TCs

General Information
IEC 60704-2-10:2024 applies to ranges, ovens, steam ovens, grills and microwave ovens for household and similar use. This document does not apply to hobs. This document does not apply to appliances or parts of appliances that use gas energy. Requirements for the declaration of noise emission values are not within the scope of this document. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2011. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) alignment with the fourth edition of IEC 60704-1:2021; b) alignment with IEC 60350-1:2023 regarding the definitions and settings; c) introduction of the measurement of the steam function; d) revision of settings and test parameters. For the purposes of declaration, the tests defined in this part of IEC 62552 are considered to be type tests to assess the fundamental design and operation of a refrigerating appliance. This part of IEC 62552 does not define requirements for production sampling or conformity assessment or certification. This part of IEC 62552 does not define a regime for verification testing as this varies by region and country. When verification of the performance of a refrigerating appliance of a given type in relation to this standard is necessary, it is preferable, wherever practicable, that all the tests specified be applied to a single unit. The tests can also be made individually for the study of a particular characteristic.

This document describes a method which determines the electrical parameters for compatibility of cookware and induction hobs for household use. Cookware is an integral part of the cooking system; electrical parameters can affect the cooking process regarding the required power setting, speed of heating up, sufficient power for different cooking processes etc. For determining the compatibility of a cookware to an induction cooking zone and cooking area, a measurement device and a measurement procedure is specified in this document. It allows measuring the resistivity and/or impedance of the cookware under test (CUT) in a repeatable and reproducible way. The measured electric properties indicate the compatibility characteristics of a cookware on an induction cooking zones and cooking area. For determination the compatibility of an induction cooking zone or cooking area with a cookware, this document describes the measurement how to determine the power generated by the cooking zone under test (ZUT) in combination with the selected cookware. NOTE 1 For definitions of induction hob, induction cooking zone and cooking area EN 60350-2 is relevant. Further performance characteristics of hobs which are of interest to the user, like energy consumption, heating up time or heat distribution are not addressed. This document does not deal with safety requirements. NOTE 2 Further performance characteristics for hobs are covered in EN 60350-2. IEC 60704-2-3:2017 is intended to be used in conjunction with the third edition (2010) of IEC 60704-1, Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 1: General requirements. The relevant text of Part 1 as amended by this standard establishes the test code for dishwashers. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) it doesn’t contain the description of an appropriate test enclosure because the test enclosure has been incorporated in IEC 60704-1:2010, Annex B; b) the values of standard deviations of sound power levels determined according to this part are given in Clause 1; c) to prevent an appliance being programmed to recognize the test cycles, and reacting specifically to them, in this new edition an artificial soil is used in addition to the unsoiled load and the rinse aid container has to be filled. This artificial soil successive may build up a film on the load. Therefore, detergent also has to be used. An initial test has shown that no foam is to be expected. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60704-1:2010.

This part of IEC 60704: – considers the term "declaration" to include all means for providing information on the noise emission values to potential users (consumers) of the appliances; this includes labels, brochures, advertisements, commercial and technical information papers, etc.; – considers the declaration for appliances manufactured by mass production; – specifies a simple statistical method for verifying the declared values by investigating a sample of only three appliances. This International Standard is to be used in conjunction with IEC 60704-1:2010 and the latest edition of IEC 60704-2 (all parts). This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2006. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
