Standard Specification for Smooth-Wall Coilable Polyethylene (PE) Conduit (Duct) for Preassembled Wire and Cable (Withdrawn 2011)

ABSTRACT
This specification covers materials, dimensions, workmanship, and performance tests for medium-density and high-density smooth-wall coilable polyethylene conduit (duct) for preassembled electrical wires and cables. The polyethylene extrusion compounds shall be tested for conformance to the tensile strength, elongation, brittleness temperature, melt index, crack resistance to environmental and thermal stresses, compression and recovery, and mechanical impact requirements. The smooth-wall coilable duct shall meet the wall thickness, outside diameter, and bending radius specifications.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers materials, dimensions, and workmanship, and performance tests for medium-density and high-density smooth-wall coilable polyethylene (PE) conduit (duct) containing electrical wires or cables, or both, preassembled by the manufacturer.
Note 1—The end user may elect to assemble the conduit and the wire or cable system in the field.
1.2 Whenever two sets of values are presented, in different units, the values in the first set are the standard, while those in parentheses are for information only.
WITHDRAWN RATIONALE
This specification covers materials, dimensions, and workmanship, and performance tests for medium-density and high-density smooth-wall coilable polyethylene (PE) conduit (duct) containing electrical wires or cables, or both, preassembled by the manufacturer.
Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems, this specification was withdrawn in July 2011 in accordance with section 10.6.3.1 of the Regulations Governing ASTM Technical Committees, which requires that standards shall be updated by the end of the eighth year since the last approval date.
