EN 926-2:2013/prA1 (draft amendment A1, 2019) is a CEN technical amendment to the European standard EN 926-2:2013 covering paragliding equipment - paragliders - requirements and test methods for classifying flight safety characteristics. The amendment clarifies and updates test procedures, definitions and documentation requirements used to assess and classify the flight‑safety behaviour of paragliders, with particular attention to folding‑line use and collapse tests.

  • Revised definition of folding lines as a “copy of the A‑lines” with two allowed exceptions.
  • Exceptions allow increasing the number of upper level lines and altering upper line length by up to 100 mm to preserve wing profile and collapse behaviour.
  • Folding lines are not permitted on Category A and B gliders; permitted in Category C and D only for symmetric and asymmetric collapse manoeuvres.
  • If used, folding lines must meet specified positioning and slack requirements (±10 cm margins), and additional attachment points and a full set of folding lines must be supplied with the production glider.

• Collapse test procedures

  • Tests for unaccelerated and accelerated collapses (e.g., ~30% chord, ≥50% chord and accelerated collapse) now require that each collapse “shall match the mandatory geometry in one fluid motion without showing distinct steps” and “shall be performed by the test pilot in one single action.”
  • Small and large asymmetric collapse test steps are similarly amended to require one‑motion, single‑action execution.

• Harness and figure numbering corrections

  • Administrative changes renumbering figures referenced in the harness‑dimensions clause (Figures 3–7 renumbered).

• User’s manual requirements

  • Manufacturers must include folding line information in the user manual: which tests require folding lines and instructions for mounting folding lines.
