Leak detection systems - Part 7: Requirements and test/assessment methods for interstitial spaces, leak detection linings and leak detection jackets
This document specifies requirements and the corresponding test/assessment methods applicable to leak detection linings and leak detection jackets. Leak detection linings and leak detection jackets are intended to be used, in conjunction with leak detection kits, to create an interstitial space or leakage containment in single skin underground or above ground, non-pressurized tanks designed for water polluting liquids.
For leak detection kits, see EN 13160 2, EN 13160 3 and EN 13160 4.

European foreword
This document (prEN 13160-7:2025) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 393
“Equipment for storage tanks and for filling stations”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 13160-7:2016+A1:2024.
This document includes the following significant technical changes with respect to
EN 13160-7:2016+A1:2024:
— in 4.1.2, the test with deionised water has been deleted from Table 1 and Table 2;
— in 4.1.3, a distinction has been made between the permeability test with liquid in accordance with the
requirements of class I and class II;
— in 4.1.6.2 (Table 7 and Table 8), the number of samples has been reduced;
— in 5.1.1.4, it has been clarified in a note that the leak test of this document applies to a type test and
for final production tests or tests after commissioning the values are defined in 6.3;
— in 5.1.2.2, the requirements for the sample have been specified more precisely;
— in 5.1.3, the test procedure for the passage of liquids has been clarified;
— in 5.1.4.1, the test of the intermediate layer(s) has been modified and specified more precisely;
— in 5.1.4.2.3, an option for the test of passage of air has been added;
— in 6.2.2, the number of samples has been modified;
— the tolerances of the measuring devices have been modified throughout the document;
— the term “flow resistance” has been replaced with “pressure decrease” throughout the document;
— Clause 6 has been revised and renamed in Checking the functionality and durability.
The EN 13160 series, under the general title Leak detection systems, is composed of the following parts:
— Part 1: General principles
— Part 2: Requirements and test/assessment methods for pressure and vacuum systems
— Part 3: Requirements and test/assessment methods for liquid systems for tanks
