Foreword
This document (EN 748:2004) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 “Sports, playground and
other recreational equipment”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by March 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
March 2005.
On the comments resolution meeting of CEN/TC 136/WG 22 the German comment has been adopted to add a
Type 4 "Freestanding football goal with counterweight" to EN 748, which is part of ÖNORM S 4700 "Football goals-
Additional requirements to ÖNORM EN 748". The intention of CENTC 136/WG 22 behind this decision was to
make ÖNORM S 4700 unnecessary, being a national standard not one to one related to European Standards.
Regarding the inclusion of a Type 4 France asked for an national deviation due to a French national regulation (de-
cree n° 96-495 of June 4, 1996), see Annex ZB.
This document supersedes EN 748:1995 + A1:1998.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following coun-
tries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Esto-
nia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
