Playing field equipment - Lightweight goals - Functional, safety requirements and test methods

This European Standard specifies the functional and safety requirements and test methods for lightweight goals, which are classified in 4.
This standard is not applicable to goals:
a)   according to EN 748 (football);
b)   EN 749 (handball);
c)   EN 750 (hockey);
d)   EN 1270 (basketball);
e)   EN 15312 (free access multi-sports);
f)   EN 13451-4 (water polo);
g)   to prEN 16579 (portable and fixed goals);
h)   inflatable goals;
i)   goals which are classified as toys under the responsibility of technical committees CEN/TC 52 "Safety of toys";
j)   Goals which are intended to move in use (e.g. rink hockey and roller hockey).
It is applicable to playing field goals used for training or recreational play, indoor and outdoor including educational and public establishments and recreational areas.

Diese Europäische Norm legt funktionale und sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Leichtgewicht-Tore, wie in Abschnitt 4 klassifiziert, fest.
Diese Norm ist nicht anwendbar auf Tore:
a)   nach EN 748 (Fußball);
b)   EN 749 (Handball);
c)   EN 750 (Hockey);
d)   EN 1270 (Basketball);
e)   EN 15312 (frei zugängliche Multisportgeräte);
f)   EN 13451-4 (Wasserball);
g)   für prEN 16579 (ortsveränderliche und standortgebundene Tore);
h)   aufblasbare Tore;
i)   Tore, die unter der Zuständigkeit des Technischen Komitees CEN/TC 52 "Sicherheit von Spielzeug" als Spielzeug eingestuft sind;
j)   Tore, die für eine Bewegung während der Benutzung vorgesehen sind (z. B. beim Rollhockey).
Diese Norm gilt für Spielfeldtore, die zu Trainings  oder Erholungszwecken genutzt und in Innen  und Außenbereichen einschließlich Bildungseinrichtungen und öffentlichen Einrichtungen, sowie Erholungsbereichen verwendet werden.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences fonctionnelles, les exigences de sécurité et les méthodes d'essai relatives aux buts légers, selon la classification en 4.
La présente norme n'est pas applicable :
a)   aux buts conformes à l'EN 748 (football) ;
b)   aux buts conformes à l'EN 749 (handball) ;
c)   aux buts conformes à l'EN 750 (hockey) ;
d)   aux équipements conformes à l'EN 1270 (basket-ball) ;
e)   aux buts conformes à l'EN 15312 (équipements sportifs en accès libre) ;
f)   aux buts conformes à l'EN 13451-4 (water-polo) ;
g)   aux buts conformes au prEN 16579 (buts transportables et fixes) ;
h)   aux buts gonflables ;
i)   aux buts classés comme jouets relevant de la responsabilité du comité technique CEN/TC 52 "Sécurité des jouets" ;
j)   aux buts conçus pour être mobiles lorsqu'ils sont utilisés (par exemple, les buts pour hockey sur glace ou pour hockey sur rollers).
Elle est applicable aux buts de terrains de jeux utilisés pour l'entraînement ou les jeux récréatifs, à l’intérieur ou à l’extérieur, y compris dans les établissements scolaires, les établissements publics et les espaces de loisirs.

Ta evropski standard določa funkcionalne in varnostne zahteve za lahka nogometna vrata, ki so razvrščena v 4.2.
Ta standard se ne uporablja za nogometna vrata:
– v skladu s standardi EN 748 (nogomet), EN 749 (rokomet), EN 750 (hokej), EN 1270 (košarka) in EN 15312 (prosto dostopna večnamenska športna oprema) in EN 13451-4 (vaterpolo).
– v skladu s standardom EN 16579;
– ki so napihljivi goli;
– ki so goli, razvrščeni kot igrače v skladu s standardom CEN/TC 52.
Uporablja se za gole za igranje na terenu, ki se uporabljajo za notranje ali zunanje igranje za rekreacijo, vključno z izobraževalnimi in javnimi ustanovami ali področji za rekreacijo, vendar ne za gospodinjsko uporabo.

Overview

EN 16664:2015 - Playing field equipment: Lightweight goals - Functional, safety requirements and test methods is a CEN European Standard that defines safety, performance and testing requirements for portable lightweight goals used for training and recreational play (indoor and outdoor). The standard covers goal classification, material selection, construction, anchorage/ballast, net and net-fixing safety, impact and entrapment testing, marking and documentation.

Key topics and technical requirements

• Classification: A product is a lightweight goal if its total mass (including net, excluding separate ballast) ≤ 10 kg and it meets a static force criterion (≤ 50 N at a specified measuring point).
• Materials: Guidance on material selection to avoid hazards from skin contact; see Annex C for recommendations.
• Strength and structural integrity: Goal frames must not break, collapse or produce sharp fragments under impact testing.
• Anchorage / ballast: Goals > 2 kg must have at least one anchorage point; ballast must be at least twice the goal weight.
• Entrapment and pinch hazards: Designs must prevent finger, head and neck entrapment. Assessment follows EN 913:2008 with additional tests in Annex A (head and neck entrapment).
• Net and net fixings: Minimum yarn diameter 2 mm; mesh must not allow the intended ball to pass or create entrapment. Minimum mesh breaking strength: open mesh 400 N (EN ISO 1806); close mesh 300 kPa (EN ISO 13938-1). Metal cup hooks are prohibited as net fixings.
• Impact tests: A soft-body pendulum (approx. 75 kg tyre impactor) strikes the assembled goal at 1.0 ± 0.05 m/s in specified directions (side, front, top) to verify no dangerous collapse.
• Net-fixing strength test: Applied horizontal load of 400 ± 50 N on a disc placed against the net to check fixation integrity.
• Marking & documentation: Assembly, installation, maintenance instructions and warning labels are required; test reports must record test conditions, equipment details and results.

EN 16664:2015 is practical for:

• Manufacturers and designers of lightweight sports goals - to design compliant products and select materials.
• Testing laboratories and conformity assessors - to perform impact, net and entrapment tests and issue test reports.
• Procurement officers, facility managers, schools, clubs and playground operators - to specify safe products for training and recreational use.
