Excluded are mattresses for carry cots and pram bodies, inflatable and water mattresses, and mattresses for medical purposes. Amendment prA1 (drafted October 2019) updates normative references, definitions and multiple test and marking requirements.

- Thickness is measured per EN 1334 Clause 6.3 adapted with the standard’s square tube (measurement taken before tests) and shall not exceed manufacturer’s stated value.
- Additional instructions are required for standalone mattresses.
- Suffocation hazards: glued labels/decals and impermeable layers addressed - impermeable layers are assessed via the firmness test (clause 8.2.3).
