Building hardware - Cylinders for locks - Requirements and test methods
This document applies to cylinders for locks normally used in buildings, which are designed to be used with cylinders.
This document specifies performance and other requirements for the strength, security, durability, performance and corrosion resistance of cylinders and their original keys. It establishes one category of use, three categories of durability, two categories each for fire and corrosion resistance all based on performance tests as well as six grades of key related security based on design requirements and three grades on performance tests that simulate attack.
This document includes tests of satisfactory operation at temperatures between - 20 °C and + 80 °C. It specifies test methods to be used on cylinders and their protective measures linked with these cylinders and recommended by the manufacturer.
Corrosion resistance is specified by reference to the requirements of the European Standard EN 1670 on the protection of corrosion for locks and building hardware, see annex B.
The suitability of cylinders for use on fire or smoke-door assemblies is determined by fire performance tests conducted in addition to the performance testing required by this standard. Since suitability for use on fire doors is not essential in every situation, the manufacturer has the option to state if the cylinder conforms to these additional requirements or not. Unless otherwise specified cylinders shall conform to the requirements specified in the relevant European Standard EN 1634-1 or prEN 1634-2, see annex A.
Assessment of fire resistance of grade 1 doors is beyond the scope of this document.
On occasions there may be a need for additional functions within the design of the cylinder. Purchasers should satisfy themselves that the products are suitable for their intended use. Normative references

Dieses Dokument gilt für Schließzylinder für solche Schlösser, die üblicherweise in Gebäuden verwendet
werden, und die für den Einbau von Schließzylindern vorgerichtet sind.
Dieses Dokument enthält Festlegungen für die Leistungsfähigkeit sowie weitere Anforderungen an Festigkeit,
Verschlusssicherheit, Dauerhaftigkeit und Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Schließzylindern und ihren
Originalschlüsseln. Sie legt eine Gebrauchsklasse fest, drei Klassen für Dauerhaftigkeit, jeweils zwei Klassen
für Feuerwiderstand und Korrosionsbeständigkeit unter Zugrundelegung von Funktionsprüfungen, außerdem
sechs Klassen für Verschlusssicherheit unter Zugrundelegung von Konstruktionsanforderungen und drei
Klassen von Prüfungen der Funktionsfähigkeit, die mechanischen Angriff simulieren.
Dieses Dokument beinhaltet Prüfungen über die befriedigende Funktionsfähigkeit bei Temperaturen zwischen
20 °C und + 80 °C. Sie enthält Festlegungen der Prüfverfahren von Schließzylindern und der von den
Herstellern empfohlenen Schutzeinrichtungen für solche Schließzylinder.
Die Korrosionsbeständigkeit wird durch Verweisung auf die Anforderungen der Europäischen Norm EN 1670
über den Korrosionsschutz von Schlössern und Baubeschlägen, siehe Anhang B, festgelegt.
Die Eignung von Schließzylindern für die Verwendung in Feuer- oder Rauchschutztüren wird durch die
Prüfung der Feuerwiderstandsfähigkeit bestimmt, die zusätzlich zu der Prüfung der Funktionsfähigkeit nach
diesem Dokument gefordert wird. Da die Gebrauchseignung an Feuerschutztüren nicht in jeder Situation
erforderlich ist, hat der Hersteller die Wahl, anzugeben, ob der Schließzylinder diese zusätzlichen
Anforderungen erfüllt oder nicht. Wenn dies verlangt wird, gelten für Schließzylinder die in EN 1634-1 oder
prEN 1634-2 angegebenen Anforderungen, siehe Anhang A.

La présente Norme européenne s'applique aux cylindres pour les serrures normalement utilisées dans le bâtiment et qui sont conçues pour fonctionner avec des cylindres.
Cette Norme européenne spécifie la performance et autres exigences relatives à la résistance, la sécurité, l'endurance, la performance et la résistance à la corrosion des cylindres et de leurs clés d'origine. Elle établit une catégorie d'utilisation, trois catégories d'endurance, deux catégories, chacune pour la résistance au feu et à la corrosion, toutes basées sur des essais de performance ainsi que six grades de sécurité des biens relative à la clé basés sur des exigences de conception et trois grades basés sur des essais de performance simulant une attaque.
Cette Norme européenne inclut des essais de bon fonctionnement à des températures comprises entre - 20 °C et + 80 °C. Elle spécifie les méthodes d'essai pour les cylindres et les dispositifs de protection correspondants recommandés par le fabricant.
La résistance à la corrosion est spécifiée par référence aux exigences de la Norme européenne EN 1670 relative à la protection contre la corrosion des serrures et de la quincaillerie pour le bâtiment, voir Annexe B.
L'aptitude des cylindres pour une utilisation sur des blocs-portes coupe-feu et/ou étanches aux fumées est déterminée par des essais de performance au feu qui s'ajoutent aux essais de performance requis dans la présente norme. Lorsque l'aptitude à une utilisation sur des portes coupe-feu n'est pas primordiale dans chaque situation, le fabricant a le choix de définir si le cylindre doit être conforme à ces exigences additionnelles ou non. Sauf indications contraires, les cylindres doivent être conformes aux exigences spécifiées dans la Norme européenne appropriées, EN 1634-1 ou prEN 1634-2, voir Annexe A.
