This European Standard specifies methods for making and curing test specimens for strength tests. It covers
the preparation and filling of moulds, compaction of the concrete, levelling the surface, curing of test
specimens and transporting test specimens.

EN 12390-2:2009 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 12390-2:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 104 “Concrete and related products”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by October 2009. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document supersedes EN 12390-2:2000. The results of a laboratory inter-comparison, part-funded by the EC under the Measurement and Testing Programme contract MATI-CT-94-0043, have been taken into account in the drafting of this European Standard. The compaction of specimens in the moulds using hand tamping, vibrating table, or internal (poker) vibrator are accepted as equivalent. However, it was found in this programme that the use of an internal vibrator to compact specimens of air entrained fresh concrete should only be done with caution, if loss of entrained air is to be avoided. EN 12390-2:2009 (D) Vorwort Dieses Dokument (EN 12390-2:2009) wurde vom Technischen Komitee CEN/TC 104 „Beton und zugehörige Produkte“ erarbeitet, dessen Sekretariat vom DIN gehalten wird. Diese Europäische Norm muss den Status einer nationalen Norm erhalten, entweder durch Veröffentlichung eines identischen Textes oder durch Anerkennung bis Oktober 2009 und etwaige entgegenstehende nationale Normen müssen bis Oktober 2009 zurückgezogen werden. Es wird auf die Möglichkeit hingewiesen, dass einige Texte dieses Dokuments Patentrechte berühren können. CEN [und/oder CENELEC] sind nicht dafür verantwortlich, einige oder alle diesbezüglichen Patentrechte zu identifizieren. Dieses Dokument ersetzt EN 12390-2:2000.
