This European Standard applies to a) manholes, when made from glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) based on polyester resin (UP); b) inspection chambers, when made from glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) based on polyester resin (UP) which are intended to be used with inverts which are at a depth not exceeding 2 m. These products are intended to be used within a drain or sewer system operating without pressure or occasionally at a head of pressure up to 1 bar. It applies to products, and their joints, intended for use in buried installations and to be installed by open-trench techniques. The units have a circular shape with nominal sizes not exceeding the maximum nominal size specified in EN 14364. The intended use of these products is to provide access to, buried drain or sewer systems for the conveyance of waste water at temperatures up to 50 °C, without pressure or occasionally at a head of pressure up to 1 bar, outside buildings and installed in areas subjected to vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic. It specifies definitions including symbols, requirements and characteristics of manholes, inspection chambers, joints, materials, test methods and marking. NOTE It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

This document specifies the definitions and requirements for unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP), polypropylene with mineral modifier (PP-MD) or polyethylene (PE) road gullies intended for use in non-pressure underground drains and sewers for surface water having a maximum depth of 4 m from ground level to the lowest point of the internal surface of the road gully. Road gullies complying with this document are intended to be used in pedestrian or vehicular traffic areas outside the building structure.
NOTE 1   Products complying with this document can also be used in non-traffic areas.
NOTE 2   Road gullies can be subject to national regulation which limit the maximum installation depth and / or local provisions. The installer checks for compliance prior to installation.
Road gullies complying with this document are made from a prescribed set of components that are manufactured from unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP), polypropylene with mineral modifier (PP-MD) or polyethylene (PE) and assembled together.
Road gullies complying with this document may be equipped with optional devices (e.g. removable sand or silt bucket, leaf separator etc.), however the performance of these optional devices is not covered within the scope of this document.
Road gully components can be manufactured by various methods e.g. extrusion, injection moulding, rotational moulding, low-pressure moulding, blow moulding, thermoforming or fabricated.
NOTE 3   Products complying with this document can be installed in underground applications without additional static calculation.
NOTE 4   The complete road gully assembly can also include non-plastic items (near surface or surface components for example) which are not covered by this document.
NOTE 5   The complete road gully assembly can be supplied with covers, frame covers and gratings complying with the relevant part of EN 124 which are not covered by this document. However, reference is made to this document for geometrical characteristics where applicable.
NOTE 6   Road gullies can be site assembled from different components, but can also be manufactured as a single unit.
This document covers:
-   road gullies with or without sand / silt trap;
-   road gullies with or without water seal preventing odour release;
-   road gullies where the traffic load will or will not be carried by the complete gully (resp. "Direct loaded gullies" or "Indirect loaded gullies").

This document gives guidance on the assessment of conformity of GRP-UP (glass-reinforced thermosetting resins based on unsaturated polyesters) piping products and assemblies in accordance with EN ISO 23856. ISO 25780 and ISO 16611 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of third-party certification procedures.
This document also gives guidance on the assessment of conformity of GRP-UP manholes and inspection chambers (see EN 15383 for additional information). Pipes (see EN ISO 23856) are used for manufacturing the shafts and chamber units. Additional statements as needed to assess the conformity of manholes and inspection chambers are given in Annex F.
NOTE 1   For the purpose of this document, the term polyester resin (UP) also includes vinyl-ester resins (VE).
NOTE 2   If third-party certification is involved, the certification body is accredited to ISO/IEC 17065 or EN ISO/IEC 17021 [3] as applicable.

This document specifies the requirements for solid-wall pipes and fittings with or without internal and/or external skin, and the system of piping systems made from mineral modified polypropylene materials (PP-MD) in the field of non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside the building structure (application area code "U"), and non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage for both buried in ground within the building structure and outside the building structure (application area code "UD").
This is reflected in the marking of products by "U" and "UD".
NOTE 1   The skins are made of PP compound without mineral modifier.
It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document.
This document covers a range of nominal sizes, a range of pipe stiffness classes and gives recommendations concerning colours.
NOTE 2   It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selection from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.
In conjunction with Part 2 of EN 14758 (see European foreword) it is applicable to PP-MD pipes and fittings, their elastomeric sealing ring joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended to be used for buried piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage.
This document is applicable to PP-MD pipes with or without an integral socket and fittings with an integral socket.
NOTE 3   The fittings can be manufactured by injection-moulding or be fabricated from pipes and/or mouldings.
NOTE 4   Pipes, fittings and other components conforming to any of the plastics product standards listed in Annex C can be used with pipes and fittings conforming to this document, when they conform to the requirements for joint dimensions given in Clause 7 and to the requirements of Table 11.

It is suited for all types of water supply, drainage and sewerage with or without pressure. Types of water supply include, but are not limited to, raw water, irrigation, cooling water, potable water, salt water, sea water, penstocks in power plants, processing plants and other water-based applications. This document is applicable to GRP UP piping systems, with flexible or rigid joints with or without end thrust load-bearing capability, primarily intended for use in direct buried installations.
NOTE 1   For the purpose of this document, the term polyester resin (UP) also includes vinyl-ester resins (VE).
NOTE 2   Piping systems conforming to this document can also be used for non-buried applications, provided the influence of the environment and the supports are considered in the design of the pipes, fittings and joints.
NOTE 3   This document can also apply for other installations, such as slip-lining rehabilitation of existing pipes.
NOTE 4   ISO 10467 and ISO 10639, which are replaced by this document, are also referenced in ISO 25780, which specifies requirements for GRP-pipes used for jacking installation.
The requirements for the hydrostatic pressure design of pipes referring to this document meet the requirements of ISO/TS 20656-1 and the general principle for the reliability of structures detailed in ISO 2394 and in EN 1990. These International Standards provide procedures for the harmonization of design practices and address the probability of failure, as well as possible consequences of failures. The design practices are based on a partial safety factor concept, as well as on risk management engineering.
This document is applicable to circular pipes, fittings and their joints of nominal sizes from DN 50 to DN 4000, which are intended to be used for the conveyance of water, sewage and drainage at normal service conditions, with or without pressure.

This document gives the recommended practise for underground open trench installation and commissioning of thermoplastics piping systems to be used for the conveyance of water under pressure (in addition to EN 805) and for the discharge of wastewater under gravity (in addition to EN 1610) .
In the field of non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage this is reflected in the marking of products by application code "U" and "UD":
-   outside the building structure (U);
-   both buried in ground within the building structure (application area code "D") and outside the
building (application area code "UD").
This document covers also installation and/or connections to valves, manholes, inspection chambers, gullies and other ancillary components in piping systems.
NOTE 1   Code of practise for pipelines for gas supply is covered by EN 12007-series [21].
NOTE 2   Recommended practices for installation of plastic piping systems for soil and waste discharge within the building structure is covered by CEN/TR 13801 [12].
NOTE 3   Practices for underground installation of rainwater infiltration and storage attenuation systems are covered by CEN/TR 17179 [13].
NOTE 4   It is assumed that additional recommendations and/or requirements are detailed in the individual product standards.
NOTE 5    If non-plastic components are part of the plastic system the manufacturer's instructions should be taken into account.
Requirements and instructions concerning commissioning of systems can be found in EN 805 and EN 1610 and the relevant national and/or local regulations. This document gives specific additional recommendations for commissioning relevant for plastic piping systems.
Attention is drawn to any relevant local and/or national regulations (e.g. health, safety and hygienic requirements).
