This European Standard specifies the composition, property requirements and dimensional tolerances for copper and copper alloy wire intended for general purposes, spring and fastener manufacturing applications. The sampling procedures, the methods of test for verification of conformity to the requirements of this standard, and the delivery conditions are also specified.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Zusammensetzung, die Anforderungen an die Eigenschaften und die Grenzabmaße für Drähte aus Kupfer und Kupferlegierungen zur allgemeinen Verwendung und zur Herstellung von Federn und Verbindungsstücken fest. Der Ablauf der Probenentnahme, die Prüfverfahren zur Feststellung der Übereinstimmung mit den Anforderungen dieser Norm und die Lieferbedingungen sind ebenfalls festgelegt.

La présente norme européenne spécifie la composition, les caractéristiques et les tolérances dimensionnelles des fils en cuivre et en alliages de cuivre destinés à des usages généraux et à des applications de fabrication de ressorts et éléments de fixation. Les procédures d'échantillonnage, les méthodes d'essai pour la vérification de la conformité aux prescriptions de la présente norme et les conditions de livraison sont également spécifiées.

Especially for finned tubes according to EN 12452 with high fins, it is suggested to use eddy current test with internal probe as described in this document.
