Cranes - Slewing jib cranes

This European Standard applies to power operated slewing jib cranes mounted in one position or free to travel on horizontal rails. It does not apply to wall mounted, pillar or workshop jib cranes. This European Standard is not applicable to erection, dismantling operations, or changing the configuration of the crane.
This European Standard gives requirements for all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to slewing jib cranes, when used as intended and under conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
The specific hazards due to potentially explosive atmospheres, ionising radiation, and operation in electromagnetic fields beyond the range of EN 61000-6-2 are not covered by this European Standard.
This European Standard does not include requirements for the lifting of persons.
This European Standard is applicable to slewing jib cranes, which are manufactured after the date of approval by CEN of this European Standard.
This European Standard is not applicable to slewing jib cranes which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN.

Krane - Ausleger-Drehkrane

Diese Norm gilt für kraftbetriebene Auslegerdrehkrane, die entweder an einer Position aufgestellt sind oder sich frei auf horizontalen Schienen bewegen. Sie gilt nicht für an der Wand montierte Auslegerkrane, Säulen-Auslegerkrane oder Werkstatt-Auslegerkrane. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Aufstellung, Demontage oder Änderungen der Krankonfiguration.
Diese Norm gibt Anforderungen für alle für Auslegerdrehkrane zutreffenden signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefahrensituationen und Gefahr bringenden Ereignisse bei bestimmungsgemäßem Einsatz unter den vom Hersteller vorgesehenen Bedingungen (siehe Abschnitt 4) an.
Die spezifischen Gefährdungen durch explosive Atmosphären, ionisierende Strahlung und Betrieb in elektromagnetischen Feldern über den Bereich von EN 61000-6-2 hinaus werden in dieser Norm nicht behandelt.
Diese Norm erfasst keine Anforderungen an das Heben von Personen.

Appareils de levage à charge suspendue - Grues à flèche pivotante

La présente norme s'applique aux grues à flèche pivotante montées en un emplacement fixe ou à déplacement libre sur des rails horizontaux. Elle ne s'applique pas aux grues à flèche à montage mural, à colonne ou d'atelier, lesquelles sont traitées dans le prEN 14492-2 consacré aux palans. La présente norme n'est pas applicable aux opérations de montage et de démontage ou de changement de configuration de la grue.
La présente norme donne les prescriptions concernant l'ensemble des phénomènes, des situations et des événements dangereux significatifs dans le domaine des grues à flèche pivotante, lorsqu'elles sont utilisées pour l'emploi auquel elles sont destinées et dans des conditions prévues par le fabricant (voir Article 4).
Les phénomènes dangereux spécifiques provoqués par les atmosphères explosibles et les rayonnements ionisants et dus au fonctionnement dans des environnements soumis à des champs électromagnétiques au-delà de la gamme prévue dans l'EN 61000-6-2 ne sont pas couverts par la présente norme.
La présente norme comprend les prescriptions relatives au levage de personnes.
NOTE   L'utilisation de grues pour le levage de personnes peut être soumise à des règlements nationaux spécifiques.
La présente Norme européenne est applicable aux grues à flèche pivotante fabriquées après la date d'approbation de la présente norme par le CEN.

This document is to be used together with the other generic parts of EN 13001 series of standards, see Annex E, as well as pertinent crane type product EN standards, and as such they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to, by design and theoretical verification, prevent mechanical hazards of hydraulic cylinders that are part of the load carrying structures of cranes. Hydraulic piping, hoses and connectors used with the cylinders are not within the scope of this document, as well as cylinders made from other material than carbon steel.
NOTE 1   Specific requirements for particular crane types are given in the appropriate European product standards, see Annex E.
The significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during intended use are identified in Annex F. Clauses 4 to 7 of this document provide requirements and methods to reduce or eliminate these risks:
a)   exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue);
b)   elastic instability (column buckling).
NOTE 2   EN 13001-3-6 deals only with the limit state method in accordance with EN 13001-1.

Cranes - General design - Part 3-5: Limit states and proof of competence of forged and cast hooks

This European Standard is to be used together with EN 13001-1 and EN 13001-2 and, as such, they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to prevent by design and theoretical verification, mechanical hazards in crane hooks.
This European Standard covers the following parts of hooks and types of hooks:
-   bodies of any type of hooks made of steel forgings;
-   machined shanks of hooks with a thread/nut suspension.
Principles of this European Standard can be applied to machined shanks of hooks in general. However, stress concentration factors relevant to designs not given in this standard would have to be determined and applied.
NOTE 1   Cast hooks and plate hooks, which are those, assembled of one or several parallel parts of rolled steel plates, are not covered in this European Standard.
The following is a list of significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during normal use and foreseeable misuse. Clauses 4 to 8 of this document are necessary to reduce or eliminate the risks associated with the following hazards:
a)   exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue);
b)   exceeding temperature limits of material.
The requirements of this European Standard are stated in the main body of the document and are applicable to forged hook designs in general.
The commonly used hook body and shank designs listed in Annexes A, B and F are only examples and should not be referred to as requirements of this European Standard. Annex I gives guidance for the selection of a hook size, where a hook body is in accordance with Annex A or B. The selection of hook form is not limited to those shown in Annexes A and B.
This European Standard is applicable to cranes, which are manufactured after the date of approval of this European Standard by CEN, and serves as a reference base for product standards of particular crane types.
NOTE 2   This part of EN 13001 deals only with the limit state method in accordance with EN 13001-1.

This document provides requirements for all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to light offshore cranes for lifting of goods and lifting of persons, when used as intended and under conditions foreseen by the risk assessment (see Clause 4).
This document is applicable to light offshore cranes, which are manufactured after the date of approval by CEN of this document.
This document is not applicable for:
a)   transportation, assembly, disabling, scrapping, installation or erecting of the crane;
b)   any item attached to the hook, such as loads, non-fixed load lifting attachments, lifting accessories, baskets, carriers and containers;
c)   lifting operations in ambient temperatures below −20 °C;
d)   lifting operations in ambient temperatures above 45 °C;
e)   lifting operations involving more than one crane;
f)   accidental loads as result of collisions, earthquakes, explosions, etc., which are not covered by exceptional loads defined in Table B.7;
g)   emergency personnel rescue operations (except training);
h)   subsea lifting operations;
i)   general purpose offshore cranes (covered by EN 13852-1), floating cranes and motion compensated cranes.

Crane safety - General design - Part 2: Load actions

This document specifies load actions and load combinations for the calculation of load effects as basis for the proof of competence of a crane and its main components. It will be used together with the other generic parts of the EN 13001 series of standards, see Annex E. This document specifies design requirements for non-powered access installed on cranes.
NOTE 1 For other type of access, a requirement for information to be supplied is specified.
Slidable, retractable means of access are excluded from the scope, except movable hoop guards.
This document covers means of access to control stations and all access required for maintenance, certain erection and dismantling operations.
For those cranes which are intended to be erected and dismantled frequently to change their places of work, specific requirements for the access needed during these operations are not covered by this document and should be given in the appropriate European Standards for specific crane types.

- guarding against hazard from moving parts;
- relative movement between crane and adjacent structure or the ground/floor;
- hazardous surface temperature;
- electrical equipment.

In particular:
-   performance level;
-   information to be provided by the sensors installed on the crane;
-   operation, particularly in the event of failure, override and free jib slewing states of a crane;
-   type of communication between devices;
-   information for the crane operator and outside indicator.
It also specifies the requirements for marking the device or the system and the content of the instructions for use.

This document does not cover hazards related to the lifting of persons.
NOTE   The use of cranes for lifting of persons can be subject to specific national regulations.
This document is not applicable to loader cranes manufactured before the publication of this document. For loader cranes designed before the publication of this document, the provisions concerning stress calculations in the version of EN 12999 that was valid at the time of their design, are still applicable.
